Commanding Officer
|
The Captain is responsible for the ship and the safety of all
aboard. Although a good Captain will ask for and listen to all advise
from his crew, the Captain has the final say in all matters. The
Captain is the only Person who can:
-
1.) Order weapons fire
-
2.) Send Away Teams
|
First Officer
|
The first Officer is just that. . . He/she oversees all
departments, and has the authority to give orders to anyone on the
ship, except of course, the Captain. He/she is responsible for
delegating work schedules and seeing that all maintenance schedules
are kept. He/she develops and organizes the duty roster. The first
officer will lead away teams, unless otherwise specified by Captain.
The First Officer is also expected to give alternative points of view
on a given situation. The captain typically turns to his First Officer
for another taken on a situation. However once the Captain's decisions
has been made, it is the responsibility of the first Officer to carry
them out no matter how he or she feels personally.

Chief Operations Officer
|
Ops is an extremely confusing post. The Ops officer is responsible
for coordinating ship activities so as to not overload any systems.
Also handles communications, hailing, ship to ship, away teams, etc.
Ops also handles all transporter operations, and monitors away teams
status. Ops fills in for Helm when necessary. The Ops officer is also
required to work to bring all the stations who work at the rear of the
bridge together. They being Science, Environmental, Engineering, etc.
OPS mans sensors, but the question stands: Which ones? Here is a handy
list to guide you through Operations on how to perform his duties
there.
-
1.) Declaring ALL planetary sensor
readings.
-
2.) Declaring in-ship sensor readings that would not be caught
by Engineering, such as a minor
drop in sensor efficiency or electrical interference.
-
3.) Making sure the ship runs smoothly.
-
4.) Declaring ALL
ONBOARD damage during battle. <That is
YOUR ship not the enemy!>
-
5.) Declaring status of your ship and non-combat status of enemy
ships
-
6.) Non-combat long range sensors.
-
7.) Manipulates ship systems, such as redirecting flow through
plasma conduits, switching to backups,
and other overriding operations.

Chief Tactical Officer
|
Tactical is responsible for all defensive systems (shields,
phasers, photons, etc.) Tactical also scans and provides data on all
encountered vessels. The Tactical Officer on the bridge must also
coordinate with the Security Officer on duty. The Tactical officer is
the backbone of the ship. When ordered to by the Captain he fires
weapons, raises shields, and determines damage done to the enemy. He
also raises people on hailing frequencies. The Tactical officer must
know the correct balance of damage inflicted to the other ship for
each firing of the phasers and photons. The Tactical is the busiest
but the most fun of any position on the ship. TAC controls the
cloaking device and coordinates with OPS in running the Tachyon beam
to scan for other cloaked ships. ONLY TAC may detect ships in the
vicinity. <I.E. TAC has ship-to-ship sensors, not ship-to-shore
sensors, which are at OPS> Oversees the Security Department and handles all
intruders and away team security.
|
Chief Security Officer
|
The Chief of Security handles all security related functions that do
not involve the ships weapons or shields, ie; Intruder alerts, away
team security, putting people in the brig and so forth. The CSO is
required to manage a current roster for each member of the Security
staff, design a fluid patrol manifest and keep up to date a profile
for all members of the crew and visiting persons. In event of a Red
Alert situation the Chief should recon with all the Security personnel
and assign them to their respective duty stations. The Chief of
Security also works in tandem with the Chief Tactical Officer to
advise the Commanding Officer on possible threats to the ship and it's
crew. The Junior Security Officer answers to the Chief of Security and
his/her assistant. The Junior Officer should follow orders to the
letter and is often asked to put their life in danger. The Junior
Officer will occasionally be asked to join forces with Tactical
personnel to help strengthen the other teams.
|
Chief Engineering Officer
|
The Chief Engineer is responsible for all the ship's systems.
Engineering handles nearly all mechanical and technical aspects of the
ship, but first and foremost are the warp and impulse engines. The
Chief is also responsible for maintaining and monitoring the power
requirements of the ship. The Assistant / Division Heads report to the
Chief Engineer and work as go-betweens and delegates within the
Engineering department. The Assistant Chief runs Engineering in the
absence of the Chief. Junior Engineers do nearly all the diagnostics
and maintenance of the ships systems. All engineering personnel report
to the Chief Engineer. Many Junior Engineers are members of one of the
following divisions, Power Generation, Warp Propulsion, Impulse
Propulsion, Transporters, Environmental, Ship fitting and Damage
Control. The latter being very dangerous.
|
Chief Medical Officer
|
The Medical section is run by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO). All
other Medical personal report to the CMO. The CMO is responsible for
the physical well being of the crew. The CMO will also perform studies
on alien and unknown life forms. And will give medical assistance to
anyone or anything that needs it. The Chief Medical Officer has the
ability to, if required, remove any crew member, including the
Captain, from active duty if s/he finds his / her physical state to be
unstable. ( To remove the Captain, s/he must have the support of the
Chief Counselor).
|
Flight Control Officer
|
Conn is required to monitor subspace field geometry in parallel
with the Engineering department. During warp flight, the Flight
Control console continually updates long-range sensor data and makes
automatic course corrections. Conn is responsible for monitoring
relativistic effects as well as inertial damping system status during
impulse flight.
|
Chief Science Officer
|
Science is responsible for all scanning, reports, and other types
of pertinent data on all types of encountered phenomenon. Conducts
surveys and studies of same. A Science Officer is on all away teams.
Science personal report to the Science Station Bridge Officer who then
reports to the Command Officer on board the bridge.
|
Chief Counselor
|
The Chief Counselor is responsible for managing the ship/station's
school, counseling office, and working in part with the medical staff
with patient recovery. This position also includes advising the
Commanding Officer in certain situations. All junior Counseling
officers report to the Chief Counselor. The Chief Counselor has the
ability to, if required, remove any crew member, including the
Captain, from active duty if s/he finds his/her mental state to be
unstable. (To remove the Captain, s/he must have the support of the
Chief Medical Officer).
