Family Background:
Alida was born on her home world of Trill to Malik and Jain Raish. Her
parents are both senior Guardians, unjoined Trill who have dedicated their
lives to the care and protection of the symbiont life forms whose joining with
the humanoid Trills distinguishes the species. Because of her parents’
unique position on Trill, Alida was raised in a rather unusual environment.
She had very little contact with other children while she was extremely young,
as most of her time was spent near her parents in the vast underground
chambers housing the symbiont breeding pools. When she did get a little older,
the vast majority of her time was spent with the children of various diplomats
and world leaders with whom her parents associated. Alida has an aunt, Liana
Mir, who was Joined shortly before Alida’s birth and who was a source of
support and comfort during her formative years.
Educational Background:
Alida’s early education consisted primarily of private tutors who made
sure that despite her isolated childhood, the young girl was given the benefit
of a broader perspective. She was not only schooled in the basics, which she
mastered readily, but became proficient in the use of not only Federation
Standard, but Klingon, Romulan, and the native tongue of the Berjans. She has
an aptitude for science, but at an early age her interest was drawn towards
the protection of others. She could frequently be found trailing the eternally
patient Trill guards as they patrolled her parents’ compound, and learned a
great deal about weapons and strategy from them before her official education
had even begun.
At the age of 13, Alida was enrolled in a school near her home. A natural,
but quiet leader, she adjusted well to the change, and made a few close
friends whom she remains in contact with today. Three years later, at 16,
Alida completed the education that was mandatory for Trill children and
pursued a job back at her parents’ facility. She worked there for one year,
helping her mother and father with their projects, but realized that this was
not her calling. At 17 she enlisted in the Trill military, where she was
trained in standard military operations and combat. Eventually she applied to
become an officer and was accepted to the program at the age of 19. She served
there for two years, before entering StarFleet Academy at the age of 21.
Because of her previous training and education, she was given credit for many
of the initial classes at the academy and skipped to the more advanced ones.
She graduated the academy at 23.
Career Background:
Alida served her first assignment on a remote scientific outpost in an
undisclosed location, working security patrols. From there she was quickly
transferred to serve briefly on board the Explorer Class cruiser USS Lakota,
Avalon’s only attempt to upgrade the Excelsior class ships. After 5 months,
she was once again transferred, this time to the USS Norton, where after 1
year she was made the Assistant Chief of Security and was promoted to the rank
of Lieutenant Junior Grade. She then was transferred to the USS Peacemaker,
where she currently serves as Chief of Security.
Interests:
Alida enjoys physical activity very much. She can often be found designing
and running her own holodeck programs for use in training exercises. She loves
animals but does not have any of her own. Alida is fascinated by the
traditions and customs of other cultures and loves to read.
Psychological Profile:
Alida is a pleasant if not overly outgoing woman. Her early years as a
relatively isolated child have left her with a marked preference for her own
company, but she will willingly and happily spend time with her friends. She
has a large capacity for kindness, instilled in her by her aunt Liana, and a
very generous spirit. A protector by nature, Alida is known for keeping an eye
out for those close to her.
While she normally keeps a cool head, Alida is capable of rare but intense
bursts of temper. She loves strategy and therefore enjoys finding her own
unique ways of retaliation for perceived wrongs. She despises incompetence
because she herself works so hard to make sure things run smoothly and does
not tolerate it easily. Alida has a very strong work ethic, and pursues
problems with tenacity until they are finished.
