The brothers of the Beta Epsilon chapter of Sigma Chi continue this tradition of helping others in the community in a variety of ways. Our biggest philanthropy event is Derby Days. Derby Days is a week filled with various money-raising activities. This money is donated to the Children's Miracle Network Foundation. Much of this money is used to help support the Primary Children's hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. From 2002-2003 Beta Epsilon was able to raise over $20,000 for the Children's Miracle Network during Derby Days and other events. Members of Sigma Chi also volunteer in service projects in the community. We feel that this service is an enormous benefit to the community and to our own lives. We have enjoyed spending time with underprivileged children by taking them to the zoo, hockey games, and participating in charities such as Sub-for-Santa during Christmas time. We have also volunteered at local elementary schools and helped the U of U's IFC-PHC philanthropy efforts benefiting the Huntsman Cancer Institute. One of our members, Bryson Morgan, serves as the 2004 director for public relations and philanthropy for the U's IFC (Interfraternity Council).
