akUsTREK NIGHT, THE FIRST U/TREK CONCERT
by Judy Alcantara
The akUsTREK was a blast!
Thanks to the concerted efforts of the magnificent U/trekkers,
we once proved a milestone in our history.
Chairperson May Lagura brought practically most of thethings
needed for making the venue more comfortable to the members
and guests, even bringing an aircon! Yes, folks, kay May yun
aircon you enjoyed in the mezzanine of Fudge. Of course, I
suggested the venue with minor
or major requirements, like the aircon?! heheMagelle, Emily,
Vangie, Luvila, Judith brought their
mountaineers chairs, banig, throw pillows.
Bumaha ng beer, carbonara, coke, bbq and chicken feet!Sa
saliw ng tugtugin nina Louie, Bobbet and his
cousin Eric. Na nilapatan ng mga tinig nina Linda, Joy, Emily,
Rosa, Bong, Jun and Rico. Together with Louie, we hosted the
event. Tiger and Judith manned the entrance/registration kaya
we were able to collect a pretty good sum of money. Thanks
to the U/trekkers who not only brought their wives, lovers
with them to be introduced to the group but some members even
invited their siblings and officemates who were game enough
to know us too! (na-shock kaya sila?)
Super thanks to Vangie, who photocopied all the lyrics and
did so much more! Luv who was patient enough looking for copies
of the songs for the "songers". Glenda who solicited
the raffle prizes. Members like Lorna, Bong, Emily, Arth,
Bey, George who so generously donated the prizes I might
have missed some, sorry. John for the assistance. George,
the ever reliable, superhero George. Nakainom ka ba man lang
ng beer? Arth and Benneth, who gallantly manned the refreshments,
bbq and chix feet sales. Gosh, good thing these guys are into
food serving industry, because napakaprofessional ng dating.
Kapagod noh?
To myself (ehem) and Philip for bringing BelAir lamps with
essential oil for letting U/trekkers experience a one-of-a-kind
product which purifies the air, reduces second-hand smoke,
odor and providing aromatherapeutic benefits. Di nyo marahil
masyado napansin but we had good air that night! To Francis
for introducing us to the Bel-Air business and leading the
group with the opening prayer that night.
Thanks too to Rene, Francis' younger brother, who even in
the middle of Friday night, ginulo namin para lang makahiram
ng guitar cables. Sa amplifier din! Kay Rosa for the lyric
stands, Louie for the additional microphones.
To all U/trekkers who made the event more fun! Like the likes
of Joel Dacanay, Rolly Sabitsana, Dino Dino, Ariel Bautista,
Jerick Chuacuco, Al Calara, Qtin, Erick, Guido, Mike, Bok!
For bringing the house down with their additional songs, wit
and all-time funny antics!
Again to the acoustic band, who committed themselves voluntarily
to provide the music.
To Philip,
Magelle and family whose house became the home of the every
Wednesday practice of the acoustic band. Diyan nabuhay ang
ensayo tuwing Miyerkoles! Saya namin noh? Inggit kayo!
Im sure May and the officers will have their final thanks
to all those who came, donated, served, became part of the
first ever aKusTrek last August 28, Saturday at Fudge, Espana.
But version nila yon, ito, akin..
Uulitin ba natin ito? Well, depende sa clamor ng madla.
Meanwhile, climb na!
God bless us!
