Hi Val,

How are you, hope you and your family are doing well and had a good holiday.  I received your e-mail last week and didn't reply back because you said you were going to Florida for a  holiday.   I managed to get on to the KaEskwela site and I was thrilled to see familiar names and faces of friends and batchmates after 20 years.  You and Co. have done a good job in bringing us together and hope that our  grand reunion next year will be a memorable and a successful one. I am looking forward next July and let me know if I can  help in any way I can .  I was able to get hold of Solomon Santos (Science 1) while I was searching on the Alumni.net site. He  is in Sydney  which is about 10 hrs drive from Melbourne. His e-mail add is  bugsie@ihug.com.au.  He was asking me some information about  a possible reunion next year, but that was two months ago and I had no info at that time so he didn't  reply after that.

Anyway  I will give you a short run down of what 's been happening to me for the last 24 years or so.   I did my B.S  in Mech Eng'g  at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila.  Some of my classmates and friends were from THS as well. Joselito Panis,  Roberto Reylado (Special Sicence ) , Octavio Reyes, Wilfredo Torres (M1) were all  my ME Classmates. I even attended Reylado's wedding. PLM was like Torres High extension. Names like Ray Bisda, Ronnie Nieva, Edgar Luce, Ronnel Samson just to name a few were all Eng'g students.  I lost touch with them after we finished school.   I worked in MIRDC (Metal Industry  and Research Dev. Center) as an Engineer  for more than a year before I decided to move to a greener pasture and try my luck here in Australia. I migrated to Melbourne 1988.  I got married here in 1989 to Virgnia Santos ( Nengkee). We met  in PLM while she was taking B.S. in Nursing.  She is 5 years younger, sabi nga nila craddle snatcher daw.   We are blessed to have two great kids.  My eldest is 11 years old, her name is Larissa and the youngest is Nicholas, he is four.  They were both born here but still speaks tagalog.

The first two years here were difficult.  Leaving in a foreign land was not as good as some people think, but we are settled now.  Australia  is a good place to raise a family,  probably just like Canada, because we had a friend from there who visited here and she said it's just like Canada only it's not as cold.  The standard of living is the same.  You don't have to have two jobs to have a comfortable life, like some of Virginia's friends who moved to U.S.A. to work there as Nurses.  The only disappoinment I have is I wasn't able to practice my degree because they didn't recognise it here and during that time I still have to go to school for another 3 years before I can practice.  I was just starting a family then, so I decided not to go back to school.  I'm employed at a petrochemical plant owned by Exxon, Mobil and Orica as a chemical plant technician  for the last 13 years.  The work involves looking after the plant day to day operation working on shift.   My wife works as a registered nurse in one of the biggest hospital here in Melbourne looking after renal patients.We became Australian citizen about nine years ago but our hearts are still with our native land. It's been a long note now.  I have to do some work now ( I'm at work at the moment)  Hope to hear from you again.  Attached are three photos, the family photo was taken 2 years ago and the two picture of our kids were recently taken when we went to Movie World at the Gold Coast for a holiday.

Hello Mga Batchmates!

Thanks for informing me about this and I'm looking forward to it. I'm currently working for FNS (financial services network) as a system programmer. I've been in Sydney since 1994. My wife's name is Jovie and we still don't have kids. But we are happily married for 14 years now. After HS, I went to the University of the Philippines and earned a Bachelors in Econ there. I took a lot of math electives and one of them (intro to computer programming) decided my fate, ie. to pursue a career in computers. I went to Australia to take advantage of an opportunity presented to me. As an old saying goes, "you will gain nothing if you don't go as far as the invitation goes".

Comparing life in Australia compared to the Phils? Well, it's basically the same except that things seem to be within your reach as long as you have a job.  For example, getting a car is relatively easy and you might find a car in every garage. I guess it's because of how the government run things. However, it is without a doubt that Christmas, being my favorite season is best celebrated in the Phils. I may have left the Phils but I certainly still love the country.

To the batchmates, I miss you all!  I'm so glad that the internet is good for a few things after all and I'm happy that we can at last have a reunion!

Jenny sent us a complete biodata  and pictures.  Our former Science-2 batchmate  is now the branch manager of Fil-Estate Realty Sales Assn, Inc.   She's one of my schoolmates in Lakan-Dula Elementary and she graduated from Polytechnic University of the Philippines. Here is the list of the jobs that she had over the years:

Jenny is also busy with extra-curricular activities.  She helped as a volunteer teacher (prep) in Fairview Christian School .  She is a member of WCS (Women's Council Society). She was involved in a medical mission in Lubao, Pampanga and outreach program for the crippled  in Sta. Lucia, projects of the Fairview Park United Methodist Church.  She is also an associate member (Philippine Canine Club).

Dear THS Schoolmates,

Below is a summary of my life’s story after Torres.

I  went to post-secondary at FEU and UP taking BSc Mech Engineering and Geology. I also studied Computer Programming and Analysis before leaving for Canada in 1981. I married Gigi (Carlota Carpio) the same year. God has blessed us with two great children, Riorobert (Robbie) in 1982 and Charlotte Louise in 1988.  Both children attended Ste. Marguerite Bourgeys - a francophone catholic school in Buttonville where French is the only spoken language.  Robbie is now on his first year in the Nursing Program while Charlotte just graduated from Grade 8 last month with an excellence award in Science and Math. We live in Richmond Hill, Ontario a suburb about 30 kms north of Toronto. We’re also about 20 kms northwest of Val Buzon’s place. With God’s help, I currently work for Oracle Canada in the Consulting group as Practice Director.  I’ve also had the opportunity to work for Citibank as Assistant Vice President (AVP). Gigi works at Scotiabank as Sr. Manager in Database Marketing. Previous to this, she worked for American Express as Financial Analyst and then as a Marketing Specialist.

Gigi and I became baptized members of United Church of God in 2001, one week before Passover (appointed feast day to commemorate the death of Christ in the Jewish tradition). We continue to seek to grow in grace, faith and knowledge of Christ Jesus, knowing that man's all is to fear God and keep (obey) His commandments, that is, to do justly, to lover mercy and to walk humbly with our God.

We went back to the Philippines recently in 2000 so we have not decided yet if we can go back next year for a planned reunion.
