1999 Fall HTHL Championship game
-- 01/08/2000 -- 2:00pm: Rebels vs Team Psycho --
The Rebels entered the championship round with a first round playoff bye. Team Psycho, defeating Team Crazy 2-0 on December 18, was the opponent for the hosting Rebels in the 1999 Fall HTHL Championship Game.

In a rare move, Richard pre-determined a balanced player bench alignment and reminded everyone of the inverted-triangle and passing game offense. Leslie, Mary and Traci began the game with Paige ready in net. Joining Lina, Carol Swink and Carol Hoffman was Jeanne offering Rebels' encouragement and cheers. Also, helping and encouraging the Rebels were Steve and Kevin.

Team Psycho struck first with a goal several minutes into the period. Mary scored on a great feed by Traci to tie the game at 1-1. Lina scored the next goal to give the Rebels a 2-1 lead.

Team Psycho, sensing a need to keep the game close, began to play a tighter, more physical game. Sticks were getting up and slapping of shin pads became the rule for the visitors. Lina went down in front of the Rebels' bench on a wicked two-fisted slash by Rebecca. The Ref called a double slashing penalty on Team Psycho and a hooking on the Rebels. A phantom penalty call on Traci from the same play. We are still wondering about this call.

Lina made it to the bench but her hockey blood was beginning to boil as the game would later prove out. The Rebels ended the first up 2-1.

With Leslie having to depart, the second period game plan was to think defense, move or pass the puck and score when possible. Taking this queue, Carol H. scored the next Rebels goal with a follow-up goal by Lina. Carol H. extended the Rebels' lead to 5-1 before another critical point in the game. Carol S. was hauled down on the ice on a tripping penalty by Rebecca of Team Psycho. Now with three penalties, Rebecca was ejected from the game but she did not go quietly.

Lina scored the Rebels' sixth goal of the game but Team Psycho tried to mount a comeback with two goals of their own. Lina, not wanting the visitors to get any closer, proceeded to scored her fourth goal of the game and Carol S. contributed the final goal to end regulation 8-3 in favor of the Rebels.

Team Psycho took two penalty shots but Paige stood tall in nets and preserved the victory. Meanwhile, Traci had the unusual opportunity to go for a hat trick penalty shot style. She made her first two shot but was stopped on the third by Irene playing in goal for Team Psycho.

Traci's ear to ear smile after the penalty shots said it all while coming to the bench. The Rebels were Champions of the 1999 Fall HTHL season. Bring on the winter season!
