Vali FolkartIntroductionMy name is Bálint Ács. I was born in the Carpathians. Most of the goods selling in the shop was gathered by my parents in the 50's and 60's. In those days countries in Middle-Europe changed for the worse. Ethnics living in this region was forced by modernization and politics to leave their own home. This tendency was typical of the heights of the Charpathians and homesteads of Hungary. People moved from the mountains and homesteads to the greater villages and towns leaving their houses and selfmades things for personal use behind (clothes, waistcoats, table clothes, agricultural machines, etc.) Not to lose these articles and things the intellectuals with museums tried to save the priceless peasant arts, so they bought up all these thing from the people moving away. The significant articles got to museums, the others to collectors of articles.
Articles in the shopTraditional costumes of West-Ukraine, Bukovina, Moldova, Transylvania, Kalotaszeg, Korond, Szekler land, Bánát, Léva (palóc) in Slovakia, Vajdaság (Sokác, Bunyevác).
