About the Ashram
Many bright students wish to have the higher education but due to lack of money they can not do so.To help such students of the low income families, Vallabh Sevashram (Ashram) was started in 1949 as a Swayampaki Chhatralaya (Self-cooking Hostel). The aim was: The students, mainly farmers'/farm-labors' children bring the cooking stuff from their homes and Ashram provides them free of cost facility of lodging with self cooking, so that they can take higher education of their wish without any cost and becoming burden on the family. Against the monetary fees, the students have to do prescribed number of hours physical work (Shram) in the Ashram's farm. They were allowed to use free the vegetables and other things for their purpose. If a student works more than the prescribed hours in the farm he was paid for that on basis of per hour wage. This money was useful to him for his college fees and books purchase. Indirectly it was giving a good training of life bulding to them. By this way since 1949 thousand of students could get higher education and became doctors, engineers, scientists, professors and so on and very well sattled in India and abroad.
Serving by this way, Ashram completed successfully 50 years in 1999. On this eve of Golden Jubilee Year, some of the past students of the Ashram, mainly from USA, thought to repay to Ashram and at a result to-day's Vallabh Sevashram - same unique self-reliant hostel but with all facilities needed for the strong study such as library, computers, prayer hall, dining hall etc. Value based activities are same those were in 1949.
