Upcoming Events:

Monday, February 24th at Valois United - Thinking Day event.

The girls from the District would be seated in a huge circle more than one person deep like for a big campfire. Each Unit is to prepare 2 things: skits, song, readings, games that can be played in a circle, etc.; one quiet and one more active. This would be a great time to include bits from the Diversity Challenge. We would ask for money enough for WFF and for the crest. The crest will be the Thinking Day pie piece from Nova Scotia.

Past Events:

May 26, 2001 - Upper Canada Village

The units in our District visited Upper Canada Village for the day.  Girls had the opportunity to learn about the history of Canada and how people lived in the past.  We travelled by bus to and from the park.  Each unit was able to work on badges or program related to our Heritage.  It was a fabulous and exciting learning experience for everyone.

April 27, 2001 - District Banquet

Our annual District Banquet was held at the Sarto-Desnoyers Community Center in Dorval.  The banquet was an opportunity for Leaders, girls and their parents to get together and celebrate the year's accomplishments.  We would like to thank everyone who attended and all the leaders for their hard work in making the year a great success.

January 21, 2001 - Winter Fun Day

Our Winter Fun Day on Sunday, January 21, 2001 at Surrey Community Center in Dorval was a great success. There were many activities to take part in such as Toboggan Races, Snow Painting, Skating and much more. Free hot chocolate and  Friendship tea was served. Girls also were given packages that contained a crest to commemorate the event and a zipper pull to collect the beads from each activity.  We would like to thank all the volunteers for their hard work and dedication in making the day a successful one.

November 21, 2000 - Nickel Arcade

This year's Nickel Arcade was as always a great success. We raised money for the Canadian World Friendship Fund (CWFF) and all the girls had a fabulous time playing the games. A special thank-you to Valois Guides for hosting the event and to all the Guides who prepared games for us to play. The CWFF helps support World Association projects such as: the World Centers, Mutual Aid, World Thinking Day Fund, assistance to countries starting or re-establishing Guiding, and assistance to countries suffering from natural disasters. It also provides financial assistance to girl and adult members selected to represent Canada at international events and for girls from other countries visiting Canada, through the In Travel grants program.

October 28, 2000 - Provincial Training Day

This year our Provincial Training Day was held at Queen of Angels Academy and was filled with great courses for Guiders. The courses were fabulous and we learned many new skills and shared ideas with other Guiders. Everyone is looking forward to next year's training day.

October 14, 2000 - Yellow Fish Road Project

Our Millenium Project was a great success, we managed to paint yellow fish next to 58 drains as a reminder not to dispose of chemicals that pollute our water supply. We also participated in the Hike for Hunger organized by the Dorval branch of Scouts Canada. Girls that participated received a crest to commemorate the event. A special Thank-You to Margaret (our Deputy Commissioner) for organizing the event.
