Boise State opens the 2000 season on the road in Albuquerque,
NM on September 2nd. Hoping to repeat last years victory
(20-9), the Broncos open with a loaded offense led by Quarterback
Bart Hendricks.
In preseason play, the offense has been dominate,
which was expected by most insiders. The backfield is packed
with experience, returning starter Davy Malathong will lead the
rushing attack barring injury followed by Humanitarian Bowl MVP
Brock Forsey. The wide-outs might be a question mark due to
the suspension of Jay Swilly and minor injuries. Look for
Andre Banks to become more of a factor in the passing game. The
Bronco defense may begin the season slowly due to the graduation
of Maloy and Johnson, however, don't expect it to last long.
The backfield is loaded with explosive talent, starting with
All-American Candidate Dempsey Dees and upcoming star Quinton
Mikell. The defensive line is the biggest concern, NMU may
be able to exploit this in a close game. BSU should
be able to get through the season opening jitters and mistakes to
beat NMU. College
Football News writes "The
Broncos need to start off 2000 with a win over a team they're
supposed to beat. New Mexico has a lack of offensive stars and too
many questions on defense to beat BSU if Bart Hendricks and
company are playing well." My prediction, BSU 31 to
NMU's 21. Remember, Boise State is undefeated against teams
from the Land of Enchantment.
