The DEVO

When I was in junior high, I switched schools late in 7th grade. I had moved from Faith Baptist Schools to Portola Middle School. I was used to being quiet and obiedient (yet sill annoying), so the switch to a public school was huge. The only problem was that the only clothes I owned were uniform clothes, so I was considered a nerd. Then later in that first month being enrolled in Portola, I went to a Violent Femmes, Ween, and Devo concert with my brother. My favorite of those bands had always been Devo, so I bought myself a shirt that was black and had nothing but four white letters on the chest spelling out "DEVO". I loved that shirt, and I wore it nearly every day. People then started to notice me, and one guy, named Jason Garcia (who is now a really good friend of mine), said "Hey, it's Devo!" ... From then on, people thought that was my name, and even now, long since I once wore that shirt, nearly everyone I know calls me Devo.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
