In April 2002, Trust took the initiative to announce its aim in the media of giving assistance to needy children for education. The response was overwhelming from various places including remote villages of Tamil Nadu. The applications continue to come this year also. They were scrutinized for genuineness and deserving students are helped to pursue their studies. Also, some cases of urgent medical assistance for needy was rendered.

The assistance to education is in the form of meeting the tuition fees, cost of books, uniforms etc. Trust has also rendered help for persuing technical and computer education by providing expensive technical books to needy students on returnable basis so that more such students can be helped

We are proud to say that a handicapped boy from a slum in the neighborhood, whose parents are illiterate street vendors, has completed B.Com through our assistance. He is an executive in a auto major. The whole family today enjoys better standard of life. We have helped his sisters too in completing school education successfully. Their parents who were vending vegetables as head loads, now have tricycle cart provided by Vasavi Trust, to carry on their trade with ease and better profitably. There are many more instances also of family as a whole improving quality of their life with assistance from Vasavi Trust.

Jangalapalli is a tiny village close to the border with Andhra Pradesh in Tiruvallur District. We are proud to say that we have brought a paradigm shift in the life of youth of this hamlet. They have taken to education in a big way with Vasavi Trust's assistance and many of them qualifying professionally as teachers and one has become MBA and works as finance manager.

The mission of Vasavi Trust can be summarized as follows:

"To spread love and happiness among all, especially among children who need them most so that they make the society of the future more hospitable, upholding noble values and thoughts."

The Managing Trustee and his wife undertook a project of providing general education also to the Vidyarthis of Veda Patasala at Mylapore, Chennai. The idea was to ensure that when they complete the Vedic education; they are also equipped with basics of languages, arithmetic, science and general knowledge to the level of 10th standard under non-formal system. Vidyarthis of patasala are thereby equipped to meet their basic needs in the new millennium at the same time maintain the hoary traditions and rich heritage of our country through Vedas, Epics and Upanishads. This we felt will preserve the Vedic schools, which are facing extinction. The Vidyarthis were provided quality education sans the huge expense, part of the present system of education. The most indigent students among the so-called forward communities attend the patasala and they do not get any type of support from the Government or other sources. We felt that they also need to be taken care of and not left behind in gaining access to proper education. However, this effort could not be continued, as management of patasala was not cooperative. Still we could make some of them clear ESLC Exam and this year one vedic student has written SSLC Exam under our guidance.

The Managing Trustee is the Correspondent of P.S. High School (North). He has taken it as a mission to improve the quality of education and health standards of children studying here. It is an institution situated in a slum area of Mylapore and most of the students are from very poor families. Quality Education is given to the students there, with all amenities. Computer training is provided to all students at affordable cost. Managing Trustee has seen to it that state of art equipments & facilities are available for overall development of the students. We also provided snacks to children of a nearby Corporation School to enable them to attend extra coaching classes in the school itself. Quiz Competitions & Summer coaching camps are held in the school to promote general knowledge, communication skills & hand writing among children in the neighbourhood.

Free health camps have been organized in co-operation with like-minded voluntary organizations to check the health status of people in the nearby slum and advise them suitably. Balwadi there was adopted for improvement. We had improved the flooring and provided fan. We distributed used dresses and playthings to needy children of the locality.
