Vash The Stampede The hero of the story, Vash tries as much as possible to find peace and tranquility in a world that practically is after his head. He is the most easy going, funniest and silliest character but deep inside, he is a troubled soul yearning to be happy and he wants the rest of humanity to be happy as well. He has a mean appetite for doughnuts and always tries to get cute with the girls. |

Meryl "The Derringer" Stryfe She is one of the two insurance agents of the Bernardy Company sent to find Vash and minimize the damage he causes. She is a spunky girl who didn't want to believe that the silly man they first met is THE Vash. but eventually she learns to accept it and maybe even develop a crush on him. Her coat is packed with Derringers, little guns that she uses to get out of tough situations. |

Millie "Stungun" Thomson Millie is the other insurance investigator. She is less intelligent that Meryl and is known more for her brute strength (check the gattling type gun she carries). However she is more in touch with her feelings than Meryl is. Millie was raised in a farmland with over a dozen brothers and sisters. She also tends to drink a lot whenever the oppurtunity arises. The series also hints that she may have had a relationship with Nicolas D. Wolfwood. |

Nicolas D. Wolfwood Wolfwood is one interesting character. His clothes may give you the impression that he is a pastor, donning a black suit with crosses on the cuffs and collar. He also lugs around a donation box like a miniature church and a huge crucifix as well. But as the series progresses, you'll see that his accessories have nothing to do with religion. Nicolas is as funny as Vash. But that is where the similarity ends. Unlike vash, Nicolas has a more pragmatic outlook on life. He does not judge the moral gravity of his actions because he believes that his soul is beyond redemption. thus he does not think twice about killing others who may pose a thret on him and his friends. But this changes as Vash's pacifist personality slowly grows on him. |

Legato Bluesummers Legato is the right hand man of Knives. He is a biogenetically-enhanced cyborg. His left arm is actually the left arm of vash which Knives shot off. While Legato is loyal to Knives, he yearns for an early death because he wants total freedom from Knive's control. Legato has enhanced telekinetic powers which he uses to manipulate the bodies of his adversaries.

Millions Knives When they were still kids, it was hard to tell one from the other. But when Rem cuts Vash's hair and Knives decided to cut his hair by himself, the distinct differences became more apparent. Vash has standing blond hair, while Knives has the flat top. Knives, because of the physical abuse he suffered from humans as a kid, grew to believe that the human race must be eradicated for life to continue. He knew he was superior to them and wanted to either rule over them or kill them off. At first he wanted to do this along with his twin brother, but when Vash shots him in the leg, he considered him to be an enemy as well. He then sought to give vash all the anguish he could dish out.
