Here's some people who put out useful information. If you want the low-down on your particular vehicle and you live in the UK then best to let me know and I can give the specific help you need. I look forward to hearing from you at tansley_uk@hotmail.com

For the Elsbett conversion kits from Germany www.elsbett.com I'm currently working on getting approval to fit these kits in the UK - If you're especially keen on this kit then please let me know.

Goat Industries can be found at www.goatindustries.fsnet.co.uk. They'll supply conversion kits and bio-diesel manufacturing plant. Please tell them the enquiry has come through me. This is a most helpful site with some good links.

www.folkecenter.dk/plant-oil/plant-oil.htm is where you can find some practical examples of cars which have been converted. Hit the union flag as soon as you get on the site to convert to English. I visited them recently and saw the VW Passat they have which they claim does around 80mpg on veg oil and has covered about 50,000 km - this is a duels fuel system with a small diesel reservoir under the bonnet for starting the car.. They are also a registered installer of Elsbett kits.

www.oilpress.com gets you to a Swedish site. These guys are farmers and they've converted tractors and cars to run on the rapeseed they grow. They also give details of how to make in-line heaters from glow plugs and banjo fittings.

The American legends Joshua and Kaia with their Veggie van can be found at www.veggievan.org. I've not found this particularly helpful for vegetable oil conversion - they tend to push the bio-diesel route.

The guy who first turned me on to all this was a highly enthusiastic American called Craig Howard. He has a web site which is well worth a look if you're planning to make something yourself. www.oocities.org/vwfatmobile. He converted a VW Golf (Rabbit in the USA) but be warned his engineering style is basic. He uses a lot of re-cycled parts, which is highly commendable but many of these don't translate well to the UK market. I also feel he spends a lot of time address the problems of low temperature winters whereas we don't get down to those extremes here.
