Forge Information

So what are the factors that affects your chance for a successful forge/refine? The answer is here. I have split the calculations into 5 parts, namely (
Base Chances, Equipments, Anvils&Skills, Forging and Refining) so that it can be more easily understood. Examples are at the bottom to help you understand better.

- Forging % will use 4 of the below parts
(Base Chances, Equipments, Anvils&Skills and Forging) to calculate
- Refining % will use 3 of the below parts (Base Chances, Equipments, and Refining) to calculate

Some things to note on forging
1. For Forging, To be able to forge a weapon of a particular Level, e.g. Claymore is Level 3, your Skill Level (In this case 2 handed Sword) in that weapon type must be at least equal or higher.

2.
The hammer that you are using must also be of equal or higher level which means:
Oridecon Hammer: Level 3 Weapon and below
Golden Hammer: Level 2 Weapon and below
Iron Hammer: Level 1 Weapon only

Exception: If you have invested any points in the skill Oridecon Research, you will be able to use any hammer for any level weapons you wish to forge.

3.
All the materials needed for the weapon must be in your inventory and not in your cart. If there is not enough materials, the weapon will not appear as 1 of your choice after you click the hammer (To activate the Forge Process) For a list of materials required for a particular weapon, please visit my Forge Materials Link

Base Chances

Job Level =
0.2% per level
Dex =
0.1% per level
Luck =
0.1% per level

*Base level doesn't 'help' so who cares about 99? *

Also there is a 20% Base Chance given by the game which is added to your basic chance base on the above.

Base Chance % =
JobLv*0.2 + DEX*0.1 + LUK*0.1 + 20%

Equipments

For equipments, just add 0.1% per Luck or Dex added by the equipment.

Anvils & Skills

Anvils =
0/0/3/5/10% (None/Anvil/Oridecon/Golden/Emperium Respectively)
Weapon Research =
1% per Level (Max 10% at Level 10)

Forging
For Forging, things that influences it are

Weapon Level =
no penalty for Level 1, minus 20% for Level 2 and minus 30% for Level 3
Weapon Skill Level =
25% + 5% per level (Skill max level is 3 therefore max = 40%)
Elemental Stone =
minus 20%(You can only put 1 element stone max)
Star Crumb =
minus 15% per Crumb (max of 3 without element or 2 with element)

Refining
For Refining, the respective skill will add a certain percentage to your Base Chance above. The below percentage shown is from Level 1 to Level 5 respectively

Iron =
26/32/38/44/50
Steel =
15/20/25/30/35
Elemental Stone =
-5/0/5/10/15

Example for refining chance (Base Chance + Equipments + Refining)

My job level is 50, dex is 84 + 12 (Job Bonus) and Luck is 84 + 2 (Job Bonus)

Base Chance is = 50 * 0.2 + 84 (+12 from job bonus) * 0.1 + 84(+2 from job bonus) * 0.1 + 20 = 48.2%

I am using AOA (+3 dex), LuckySaintRobe (+2Luck), FortuneSword (+5Luck), Crystal Pump (+5Luck), NimbleClipX2 (+6Dex total), total of 2.1% chance.

Chance = 48.2% (From Base Chance) + 2.1% = 50.3%

Level 5 Steel gives me a 35% chance to be added to my chance

Chance to make Steel = 50.3% + 35% = 85.3%

*Although Iron can reach 100%  I seem to get failures once in a blue moon so there is probably a max cap at  99%*

Example for weapon forge chance (Base Chance + Equipments + Anvils&Skills  + Forging)

Chance = 48.2% (From Base Chance) + 2.1% = 50.3%

Emperium Anvil (+10% Chance) and Level 10 Weapon Research Skill (+10% Chance) gives me 20% chance

Chance = 50.2% + 20% = 70.3%

Let's say I am going to make a Very Very Strong (2 Star Crumb) Fire (Element Stone) Fist

For my case, my Skill Level is maxed (
Level 3 so + 40%) for all forgeable weapons so I will have the 30% for my Skill Level, I am using 1 Element Stone (minus 20%) and 2 Star Crumb (minus 30%) and it's a Level 3 Weapon (minus 30%)

Chance to Forge =  70.3% + 40% - 20% - 30% - 30% = 30.3%

*Note the Japanese calculator gives 0.1% lesser chance than my result as it treat poring card in an Armour as 1 Luck not 2*
