A Sticky Situation

Prologue

"Clint! Put me down!" I cried.
"No way Mel, no way!" Clint replied.
"Hey Clint, stop bugging Melissa already!" said my friend Tiffany. She and her boyfriend Dave, who was also Clint's triplet brother, walked hand in hand in our direction. Clint, my boyfriend had suddenly picked me up for no reason and wouldn't put me down! Tiffany went up behind Clint and started to tickle him. That was a dumb move because Clint was laughing so hard that he dropped me! I was laughing so hard to do a thing about it. Clint is a great boyfriend. He's cute and is really funny and sweet. Tiffany always boast about how great Dave is, but I know that Clint is the one for me.

Chapter One

La, la, la. I'm in Health class in things are pretty boring! The only person I am friends with in this class is Dave. Our teacher is Mrs. Rogers and she's a pretty good teacher, but right now, she's blabbing about nail fungus, and let's just say that it's not pretty. I looked over at Dave. Hey! He's sleeping! I better wake him up before he gets in trouble. Good thing I'm a good spitball spitter. I wadded up a piece of paper in my mouth and let it fly. It hits Dave smack in the face and he woke up, he looked at me. I grinned.
"Starting tomorrow, you all will be married and will have children."
WHAT?! The whole class was staring at Mrs. Rogers. "Excuse me?" I asked.
"I will assign each of you a spouse and you will draw how many kids you will have. I have your partners here with me right now. Maggie Adams and Jake Johnson."
Maggie and Jake. I grinned. This will be a nice and interesting couple.
"Kerri Kennedy and Mike Alexander, Johanna Phillips and Greg Starker, James Frolic and Amanda William…" The list went on and on. I really wanted to know who my spouse is gonna be…"…lastly, Melissa Miller and Dave Moffatt."
Dave and me? What will Clint and Tiffany think about this? I'm married to my boyfriend's brother! I looked at Dave. He's as surprised as I am!
"Melissa and Dave? Please come up and pick your kids."
Dave and I got up to the front of the class and he picked a piece of paper. He opened it and his jaw dropped. Uh-oh. Dave handed the paper to me. OMG! We have Triplets! 2 girls and 1 boy. This will be interesting.
"Now, for your children, it will be like the book 'Six Grade Sugar Babies'. For every kid you have, you need a pack of sugar for it and a name. This will last for a week. I want to see you with your spouse every day and spending some time with your children, during school and after school starting now. Class dismissed." She said when the bell rang.
Dave and I walked out of the class together. He walked over to my locker first. "I guess we better spend a lot of time together. Do you want to come to my house, or do you want me to come over?" I asked.
"Why?" asked Dave.
"Because, the sugar babies." I replied.
"I'll come to your house and to the store to get three bags of sugar." Replied Dave.
I gathered all my books and walked over to Dave's locker. Clint was already there. He gave me a kiss.
"Wanna come over after school?" He asked me.
"Sorry Clint, I can't Dave and I got picked to be married and we have to go buy our kids."
Clint looked hurt. Poor guy, but I have no choice. This project is for marks!
"We'll still be spending time together. Remember, Dave needs to spend time with Tiffany too, you know." I said, giving him a kiss on the cheek. I looked at my watch. "Clint, be a sweetie and walk Tiffany home for Dave, ok? We need to go to the store." "Ok." He replied.
"Thanks honey. Bye." I said, giving him a hug, while Dave gave Tiffany a hug. We left the school and already saw our paired up classmates acting like a couple.
When we reached the store, we saw Kerri and Mike buying their baby. Yes, I said baby, because they're lucky enough to have one kid! We brought our bags of sugar and went to my house. We were in the living room, painting the faces of our kids, who we named, Todd, Sarah and Beth.
"You're a great painter, Melissa." Said Dave, looking at me.
I looked up and smiled. "Thanks, you are too." I replied.
Then something weird happened. Dave had this dreamy look on his face and he leaned in towards me. Closer, closer… our lips were a breath apart when the front door of my house opened and-- "I'M HOME!" yelled my little brother, Aaron.
Dave and I sprang apart, both of us beet red. Dave and I almost kissed!

Chapter Two

Oh my god! This is not happening! Am I falling for Dave? I can't!
"Sorry Melissa." Dave apologized.
"It's ok. It didn't happen. Don't worry." I tried to smile.
Suddenly, I have a different feeling for Dave. What's going on? Do I like Dave? I hope not! I like Clint, but do I love Clint? This is so screwed!!
"Melissa?" Dave waved his hand across my face.
I jumped. "What?"
"I better go now." He said. "Do you want to take care of the babies or should I?"
Babies? "Oh, I'll take them, or do you want to have one or two of them, cuz I won't be able to carry all three of them to school. Oh wait a minute, I have a baby carriage that I used to play with, and Mrs. Rogers said that we have to use them if we have more than two babies…" Man, I'm really blabbing! (Just like the real Melissa in my friends' point of view! Darn!)
"To save you the trouble, I'll take Todd, and I'll walk you to school and help you with the baby carriage and stuff, because we have to spend time together anyway, but I have a question. We have some different classes tomorrow, so who will take care of whom?" asked Dave.
"Well, I guess, when you have gym, I'll take care of them and vice versa. Like you can take care of them when you're running around and stuff, right? Then we'll just compromise."
"Ok." Dave smiled. "I'll tell Clint to walk with Tiffany."
"Ok." I replied. "Bye." I said and I closed the door. I sighed. Dave Moffatt and me? I looked at Beth and Sarah. "I am so confused." I said to them. Their brown eyes stared back at me. I sighed.
I jumped when the telephone rang. "Hello?"
"Hey Hon." Said Clint.
"Clint, it's you."
"Yeah, who else would it be?" he asked.
"Well, now, I'm gonna have 2 people from the Moffatt house calling me. You and my husband."
"Man, don't I wish to be in that class. I'd love to be your husband." Said Clint.
"Aww, that's so sweet." I said. What am I gonna do?

Chapter Three

"Melissa get down here! You're gonna be late and Clint will be coming any minute!" called my mom. I quickly put on my shirt and skirt, brushed my hair, put on some perfume and squirted on some perfume and ran downstairs. When I reached the bottom of the stairs, the doorbell rang.
"Must be Clint." My mom said as she opened the door. "Hello Clint--Dave! Oh good morning!" My mom looked at me. "Dave is here to walk you to school." My mom said giving me a strange look. "Hey Dave, can you please get the baby carriage and the babies?" I asked as I grabbed 2 granola bars. Dave was carrying Todd, so I took Todd from him as he pushed the carriage out the door. "Bye mom." I said.
"Bye Mrs. Miller." Said Dave.
"Bye." She replied.
Dave and I walked down the street with me eating a granola bar and Dave pushing the stroller. "Do you want a bite?" I asked Dave, offering him my other granola bar.
"Ok." He said, so I unwrapped the wrapper and Dave took a bite. "Hi Melissa! Hi Dave!" said a familiar voice.
I turned around and saw Tiffany and Clint walking towards us.
"Hey!"
Tiffany ran towards Dave and gave him a kiss and a hug. Clint walked up to me and kissed me softly. "Hey Hon. I know that you'll probably be busy after school, so wanna do something on our spare?" Clint asked, whispering in my ear.
"I'd love to Clint, but I have to baby sit for the kids and unless you wanna watch them with me…" I trailed off.
"I'll do anything if I could just be with you." Clint said. I sighed dreamily. Clint is so romantic.
"Um, Melissa, we have to go earlier to check in with Mrs. Rogers with the babies." Said Dave.
"Oh right. We better go." I said, giving Clint a kiss on the cheek, then together, Dave and I ran towards the school. Pushing the babies with us.

Chapter Four

"Class, how was your first day of being a parent?" asked Mrs. Rogers.
"Man, it's so tiring! I hate it!" cried Jake.
"It's not all that bad." Said Maggie. "I actually had fun."
"Fun? You call dressing that thing fun? I rather play football!" "Will you shut up already?" screamed Maggie.
I smiled to myself. Maggie and Jake. The worst couple.
"I want a divorce!"
"Well, Maggie, Jake. You're the first group to quit." Said Mrs. Rogers. "Let's make this a contest. The last group to stay together gets an A."
Well, this is gonna be challenging.

The bell rang and I'm in study hall, but the worst thing is that Clint didn't show up at all!

Chapter Five

I've waited for half an hour and still no Clint! That's it, this is really pissing me off, I'm leaving. I walked down the hallway and I saw Clint and Tiffany kissing! I gasped and back away from the hallway.
I couldn't believe what I saw! I carried the triplets into the gym and watched Dave play. I spotted Johanna and her twins. Greg must be in Dave's gym class too. I walked up to Jo. "Hey Jo. Are you waiting for Greg?" I asked.
"Yeah. You must be waiting for Dave." Jo said.
"Yup." I replied. "I really need to talk to him."
"I'll watch your triplets, you go talk to Dave. He's on the side now because his team isn't playing."
"Thanks Jo." I said and I ran to Dave.
"Dave, your wife is coming." Said Greg.
"Hey Greg." I said and turned to Dave. "Dave, I need to talk to you."
"Sure Melissa." He said and followed me outside. "What's wrong?" he asked.
"Follow me." I walked towards the hallway Tiffany and Clint were in. I spotted them, still kissing in the hallway!
"Oh my god." Dave said under his breath. I looked at him. Poor guy, he looked so sad.
"I guess they're going to the dance together, so do you want to go with me, and see what their reaction will be?" I asked. "Ok! I'll go with you." Dave replied.
Together we walked back to the gym, and I joined Johanna.
"How were the kids?" I asked.
"The kids were great." Jo said with a laugh. "Very well behaved." I giggled. My mind was still about Tiffany and Clint. I can't believe they were doing this behind my back!

Chapter Six

Well, a couple days passed and Dave and I haven't seen Clint or Tiffany. Our marriage was over and I'm back to myself. The time right now is 5:00pm and Dave is picking me up for the dance at 6:00pm. I put on my short, purple velvet dress, pulled my hair up in a twist, put some make up and perfume on. I looked at myself in the mirror. I looked great, except for my eyes. They were red and puffy from crying, but I know that I should have fun at the dance, and shouldn't let Clint and Tiffany bother me. I slipped on my heels. I tried not to think about Clint, but I couldn't. I know that Clint didn't ask me to the dance at all and Tiffany didn't asked Dave. Are they cheating on us? I was thinking so hard that I didn't hear the doorbell ring.
"Melissa! Dave is here!" my mom called.
I walked down the stairs and saw Dave wearing black dress pants, and a crisp white shirt. He looked really cute.
"Dave?" asked Aaron. "What happened with Clint?"
"Aaron, shush." Said my mom.
"Thanks mom." I said, and Dave and I walked out the door.
"You know Melissa, you look really nice." Said Dave as we walked down the street.
"Thanks, you look nice too." I replied.
"I'm serious Melissa. Purple is a good color for you. Especially dark purple."
"Thanks." I said quietly.
"Cheer up Melissa, ok? I'm sad too, but let's have some fun."

At the dance, 'I Want You Back' by *N Sync was playing. I'm not much of a dancer and I don't like to dance, but *N Sync is my favorite band, so I couldn't resist dancing to it. "Come on Dave!" I said, dragging him on the dance floor. While I was dancing with him, I saw Clint and Dave's triplet brother Bob, and their older brother Scott. Dave and I danced through 3 songs: 'I Want You Back', 'When The Lights Go Out' by 5ive, and 'Backstreet's Back' by the Backstreet Boys. Then a slow song came on. It's 'Invisible Man' by 98 Degrees. Dave wrapped his arms around my waist while I wrapped my arms around his neck. He held me very close. Then I saw Clint and Tiffany slow dancing too. I nudged Dave and he turned and saw them too. Clint and Tiffany saw us looking at them and their eyes grew wide, but I was too hurt to say anything, so I turned away.
After a while, Bob and Scott cut in to dance with me, so I danced two songs with them and walked back to Dave by the refreshment table. When Tiffany and Clint walked passed us, they tried to avoid us, but it's a known fact that I'm talkative (or my friends say) and that Dave is talkative too, so we walked up to them. Clint and Tiffany both won't look us in the eye.
"You guys can't hide from us forever, you know." I said to them.
Clint replied with his eyes still on the floor. "I'm sorry Melissa. When you and Dave started to spend time together, Tiffany and I spent a lot of time together too. We started to like each other and we didn't know what your reaction is gonna be. I just want us to be friends." Said Clint.
"Us too." Said Tiffany. "I'm sorry Dave."
"I'm sorry too. I have to admit, that being with Melissa for so long, well, I have feelings for her now." Said Dave. What?! Dave likes me? Holy shit!
"I guess we'll leave you two alone then." Said Clint, and he led Tiffany away from us.
Dave turned to me. "I'm sorry Melissa, I didn't mean to--"
"Dave, it's ok. After the first day we were married, when we almost kissed, I've developed feelings for you too."
Dave and I stared at each other in silence. God Must Have Spent a Little More Time On You by *N Sync was playing, so Dave took my hand and led me to the middle of the dance floor. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Clint and Tiffany kissed. I turned my attention back to Dave. He leaned over and we completed what we were about to do a week ago. For the first time in our lives…we kissed.
