They eventually recruited guitarist Simon Tong, and in early 1997, Richard invited Nick to join the group.  In the time they were away the band grew in stature, becoming a substantial influence who was consequently used as a reference point by journalists and other bands such as Oasis.  The sessions took place at Olympic Studios in London, England.
