Kneed to Knit
When I taught myself to crochet as a child (see about me), I also taught myself to knit as well, but could never get the hang of to how to purl, so I abandoned my knitting needles for crochet hooks exclusively until last summer. I picked up a CD ROM, and learned purling. Then, I took a class, and now I'm knitting, and I love it. I've even made socks, which was my knitting goal for 2003. I made a sweater as well--just need to sew it together.
I'm still learning, and I want to get into fair isle and intarsia this year. Well. at least intarsia.

These socks are made with Lion Brand's Magic
Stripes. I got the pattern from the 2004 edition of Knit It. They
have a great introduction to the art of sock knitting. A must for beginning
"sockies" like me.
This is my very first knitted dishcloth. I got
the pattern here.
There are a ton of mistakes in it, but it looks
okay, and it's in heavy rotation in the kitchen.
I got the pattern for these hats from the teacher in
my knitting class. Made lots for Christmas presents. First, I made
them flat and sewed then up. Then I worked them and circular needles and
double points. These gave me lots of practice.
Here are two scarves that I made for my sisters for Christmas presents.
The one on the left is knitted in stockinette stitch with Lion Brand's Chenille
Thick and Quick. I then crocheted Fun Fur on the ends. The scarf on
the right is a 2k, 2p rib pattern done in Wool Ease Thick and Quick. I
think my sisters like them. They asked for matching hats :-)
I made this scarf for a co-worker's daughter. It's done in Sidar's
Snowflake, that stripes, and it's so soft (machine washable too). It's
done in garter stitch, and I found the yarn a little tricky to work with, but
oh, the results.
This
is my first complete pair of socks that I knitted. I have some orphan
socks to make pairs of as well. Making socks really isn't that hard once
you know what to do. I got the pattern here.
