Around The District   Become A Partner In Our Mission   Other Points Of Interest   Projects In Progress

San Victor recently hosted a group of visitors from the Cincinnati, Ohio area in their village. This group visited last year and assisted with the construction of a foundation for a new three-classroom building. This year they returned to assist with the casting of a cement roof as well as the construction of the windows and doors for the building. Their contribution of time, effort and funds enabled the project to move forward. Rev. Howard Storm, a Methodist minister, headed the group that was composed of Catholics and  Methodist Church members. He was an art professor for twenty years and painted a wonderful mural on the side of the main building for the entire community to enjoy. We are deeply indebted.

The group from Cincinnati also brought a group of doctors and nurses as well as other medical assistant personnel to visit Corozal District. During their time here they visited five different villages and were able to see an average of 125 persons per day. As always, the medical needs of our people here are always a concern. Because of the economic situation for many people and the scarcity of medical resources, these missions are vital to the well being of our people. We are most grateful.

We are expecting a medical group from the Chicago area at the end of January. This group is making its third visit to our district and they already have a good grasp on the needs. The group is headed by Mrs. Judy Glance, a nurse and the mother of Fr. Christopher Glancy, CSV, the Assistant Pastor of Saint Francis Xavier Parish. Quite a few of the members of this group are repeaters and can share their experience with the others. Without volunteer assistance from outside of Belize, the quality of life of our people would be very greatly diminished.
