Dear Elizabeth,
Very grateful for your prompt replies and the att'ments. It is a shame the record is illegible when it counts! To assist your endeavours [thank you], Joseph and [Mary] Ann Day's children were:
1. [Mary] Ann b 26/4/1842 in Melbourn, Cambs [unknown whether she was baptised Mary Ann or simply known as Ann like her mother]. She married Charles Newman 1874 in Brunswick, Victoria and died 18/5/?.
2. John b 22/3/1844.
3. Frederick b 19/1/1847 [the one noted in your record] and my great grandfather. Married Margaret Roberts 1876 and had 12 children.
4. Sara b 1849
5. Emma Ann, b 1851
6. Ann b 15/4/1853 - d 19/10/1888
7. Joseph b?
8. Esther b 1856 - d 17/7/1857
9. James Thomas b 1857 - d 19/9/1857
10. George b 2/6/1859 - d 1859
11. Eliza b 14/5/1861 - d 29/5/1891 (married Frank Walsh)
12. Minnie Martha b 14/6/1863 - d 1864
13. Louisa Mary b 7/3/1865 (married Frank Walsh, Dec 1891, after Eliza's death)
14. William Arthur b 7/8/1867 (christened 13/9/1867 at St Peter's Church of Christ, Brunswick, Vic)
The parents' details are as follows:
Joseph Day b 11/10/1819 (Melbourn, Cambs) - d 10/10/1885 (Brunswick Vic)
Ann Day, nee Baker b 6/12/1822 (Melbourn, Cambs) - d 17/5/1899 (Brunswick Vic, buried in Melbourne General Cemetery)
They were married 21 September 1843 in Melbourn Cambs.
I know that, at one time, they lived at 15 Lyle Street, West Brunswick.
I hope you find this information useful - I'll continue to try and fill in some of the gaps.
Regards, Vicki
