VICTIMS OF TISM SUPPORT GROUP
LOGO ANNOTATIONS SONG INDEX RETURN HOME
Recorded by Triple J, Jan 23 1993, Melbourne Showgrounds

Somalia has got the hunger
Yugoslavia's battle will always rage
Germany's got a guilty conscience
And Magic Johnson (1), he's got AIDS

But in the global battle for misery
You know, we all win it
'Cause we're all Victorians (2)
And we've got Jeffrey Kennett (3)

Stalin, he fucked communism
Germany and Hitler fucked the Yids
We all fuck the ozone layer
Woody Allen, he fucks the kids

Some people they fuck animals
But if you're kinky, why wait
Come on down to Victoria
See one man fuck a state

Queensland used to be the national joke (4)
And Adelaide was full of S and M botty-spankers (5)
Perth was full of crooked businessmen (6)
And Sydney, still full of wankers (7)

Tasmanians! (8)... I've never met met any
You know, but the whole nation knows that
We all voted in Jeffrey Kennett
And that makes every Victorian a prat

You know the West and South Australians were right
They've know for years that Vics were pricks
And now the whole nation can agree
Come on, kick a Vic, kick a Vic, kick me
I'm one, come on kick each other
But you know don't forget that when we're kicking each other to death
There's one man who deserves it more than the rest
And his first name is Jeff

Annotations

1. Earvin Johnson, American basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers.
2. Victoria is Australia's southernmost mainlaind state.
3. Jeff Kennett was the Liberal Premier of Victoria from 1992 - 1999. Swept into office with a huge majority in a backlash against the previous Labor government, Kennett's ego, associations with big business, and autocratic style have made him extremely unpopular with large sections of the public. Kennett is also mentioned in The Mystery Of The Artist Explained and Mr Ches Baragwanath, State Auditor-General
4. This is a reference to Joh Bjelke-Petersen, a former National Party Premier of Queensland (he was Premier for 19 years, retiring in 1987), and the extreme conservatism of the Queensland population in comparison to other Australian states. See Dumb 'n' Base for a more recent comment on Queensland politics.
5. Adelaide is the capital of the South Australia, a state once known for its (small 'L') liberal values.
6. A reference to the various corporate scams by big business in Western Australia, primarily in the 1980s. Alan Bond, a Perth businessman, is currently serving time for fraud.
7. This statement is indicative of the rivalry between Melbourne and Sydney, Australia's two largest cities.
8. Tasmania lies to the south of Victoria, an island state separated from the mainland by the Bass Straight. Tasmania has a reputation for conservatism, somewhat similar to that of Queensland.
