Buena suerte!

Journal Hydrology and Earth system Sciences

Hydrology and Earth System Sciences (HESS) is an international and interdisciplinary journal for the publication of original research in hydrology, viewed as a separate geoscience alongside the atmospheric, ocean and solid earth sciences. HESS serves not only the community of scientific hydrologists, but all geoscientists who wish to publish new findings on the interactions between hydrology and other physical, chemical and biological processes within the Earth System. HESS therefore encompasses:

  1. the physical and chemical processes in the cycling of continental water in all its phases, including dissolved and particulate matter, at all scales from the microprocesses of soil water to the global processes of hydroclimatology, as well as those biological processes that interact significantly with the water cycle, such as, e.g., transpiration by vegetation, carbon and nutrient cycling.
  2. the spatial and temporal characteristics of the global water (solid, liquid and vapour) and related budgets, in all compartments of the Earth System (atmosphere, oceans and continents) including water masses, residence times, interfacial fluxes, and pathways between compartments.
  3. the influences of human activity on all the processes, budgets and fluxes outlined above, particularly in relation to floods, droughts, desertification and other aspects of global change.

The journal will publish research articles, research and technical notes, book reviews, brief communications, letters and comments on papers published previously in HESS. Papers on theory and modelling, experiment or instrumentation, in the following areas will be particularly welcome - the list is neither exhaustive, nor rank-ordered:

(1) Hydrology and the Earth's Crust
(2) Hydrology and Land Forms
(3) Hydrology and Climate Processes
(4) Hydrology and Weather Processes
(5) Hydrology and Surface Processes
(6) Hydrology and Soil Processes
(7) Hydrology and Living Communities
(8) Hydrology and Chemical Processes
(9) Hydrology and Applied Mathematics.

Contributions in the following five areas of research are thought to offer the prospect of greatest progress in hydrological science:
chemical and biological components of the hydrological cycle
scaling of spatial and dynamic behaviour
land-surface atmosphere interactions
co-ordinated global-scale observations of water reservoirs and the fluxes of water and energy
hydrologic effects of human activity.

Journal of Environmental Engineering

The Journal of Environmental Engineering presents broad interdisciplinary information on the practice and status of research in environmental engineering science, systems engineering, and sanitation. Papers focus on design, development of engineering methods, management, governmental policies, and societal impacts of wastewater collection and treatment; the fate and transport of contaminants on watersheds, in surface waters, in groundwater, in soil, and in the atmosphere; environmental biology, microbiology, chemistry, fluid mechanics, and physical processes that control natural concentrations and dispersion of wastes in air, water, and soil; nonpoint-source pollution on watersheds, in streams, in groundwater, in lakes, and in estuaries and coastal areas; treatment, management, and control of hazardous wastes; control and monitoring of air pollution and acid deposition; airshed management; and design and management of solid waste facilitiesnaming the more prominent contributions of the recent past and present. A balanced contribution from consultants, practicing engineers, and researchers is sought on engineering solutions, and professional obligations and responsibilities. ISSN: 0733-9372

Journal of Environmental Hydrology

The IAEH hydrology journal, Journal of Environmental Hydrology, is the world's first online Internet hydrology journal. It has been designed with low cost and rapid publication in mind. The low cost aspect of the journal is intended to provide publishing opportunities for developing country scientists and hydrologists.

Journal of Hydraulic Engineering

The Journal of Hydraulic Engineering accepts original contributions that describe the analysis and solutions of problems in hydraulic engineering. Technical Notes may present a problem, without solution, of common interest. Topics range from flows in closed conduits to free-surface flows (canals, rivers, lakes, and estuaries) to environmental fluid dynamics. Topics include transport processes involving fluids (multiphase flows) such as sediment and contaminant transport, and heat and gas transfers. The emphasis is given to the presentation of concepts, methods, techniques, and results that advance knowledge and/or are suitable for general application and use in the hydraulic engineering profession. ISSN: 0733-9429

Journal of Hydrologic Engineering

The Journal of Hydrologic Engineering disseminates information on the development of new hydrologic methods, theories, and applications to current engineering problems. The journal publishes papers on analytical, numerical, and experimental methods for the investigation and modeling of hydrological processes. ISSN: 1084-0699

Journal of Hydrology

The Journal of Hydrology publishes original research papers and comprehensive reviews in all the subfields of the hydrological sciences. These comprise, but are not limited to the physical, chemical, biogeochemical, stochastic and systems aspects of surface and groundwater hydrology, hydrometeorology and hydrogeology. Relevant topics in related disciplines such as climatology, water resource systems, hydraulics, agrohydrology, geomorphology, soil science, instrumentation and remote sensing, civil and environmental engineering are also included. Papers have empirical, theoretical and applied orientations.

Journal of Water Resources Planning and Management

Hydrological Processes

Hydrological Processes is now a top ten journal within the 50 strong Water Resources category of the latest ISI Journal Citation reports (2001) - and HPToday with its refereed Scientific Briefings section has played a part in this achievement.

If you have a short paper that you know will have a significant and immediate influence on the research of other hydrological investigators - a specific technique, process, model - why not submit it to Scientific Briefings for fast track publication?
