Wagon Of Welcome

Do you have a unused childs wagon hanging around the house? Bring it out, slap on some paint and fill it with beautiful plants! Use that old wagon to brighten an area near a doorway, or beside the garage. 1st,drill holes for water drainage in the seat of the wagon, then fill 3/4 to the top with either potting or top soil.

Plant Dianthus in direct center of wagon. This plant is a genus of evergreen or semi-evergreen mainly summer blooming perennial with pretty pink flowers. Needs open, sunny location and well drained, slightly alkaline soil. Fylly to half hardy.

Delphinuns " Blue Mirror " is to be planted on both sides of the diathus in center of the wagon. This genus of perennials and annuals are grown for their spikes of irregularly, cup shaped, sometimes hooded, spotted flowers. Fully to half hardy. Needs open sunny position and rich, fertile, well drained soil. Dead head to promote repeated growth.

Fleabanes " Wayne Rodrick " to be planted next to the delphiniums near ends of wagon. A genus of mainly spring and summer flowering annuals, biannuals and perennials, grown for their daisy like flower heads on slender stems. Has rounded, medium green foliage. Fully to half hardy. Needs sun and well drained soill, should not be allowed to dry out, but resents to much damp. Propagate by seed or division.

Alpine Heaths " Springwood Pink " to be planted along long sides of wagon. This evergreen compact shrub has needle like mid to deep green leaves and bears bell shaped flowers in shades of pink and dark red. Blooms from early summer to early autumn. Needs sunny, dry position and acid soil.

Vincias " Sterling Silver " to be planted in all 4 corners of the wagon. This pretty perennial is grown for it's tubular flowers with 5 spreading lobes and attraction to butterflies. Likes full sun, but will tolerate semi-shade and average soil.
