ANTS, MARCH!

Subject: Out of small things...

October 23, 1998
When the Asian big dragon, Japan, started to emerge, the world admiringly learned of the names MITSUI, MITSUBISHI, MARUBENI, CI-ITOH, the so-called GENERAL FIRMS. Then South Korea copied this system and created : GOLDEN STAR, HYUNDAI, etc. The Republic of China (ROC) also tried, half-heartedly, to imitate this economic model but, unfortunately or fortunately, failed.

When the present Asian financial crisis broke out, we saw the weaknesses and problems of the GENERAL FIRMS approach and looked to those countries where the crisis was not as serious and asked WHY?

ROC is a good example. In Taiwan, there are about 300,000+ chairmen-of-the-board! The capitalization of their companies is, on the average, very small. Nevertheless, these executives and their small to medium-sized companies' activities are extensive, touching all directions. They have played a very important role in that country's economic progress and an equally important role in strengthening ROC's position during the present crisis.

Formerly, in the People's Republic of China (PRC), large state enterprises dominated the landscape, leaving no place for the small businessman under that communist system. As a result of the current adoption of CAPITALISTIC theory in their economy, individual businessmen have emerged, creating a dynamic economy and millions of jobs for this over-populated country.

Conclusion: In the Pacific Rim countries, there are many talented and energetic enterpreneurs. What they need is not billions or millions of dollars in foreign capital. What they need more from the developed countries is good technology and comparatively small, stable capital funds.

Please think it over, when browsing through our business opportunities columns and we invite you to join us with either your technology and/or a small amount of capital investment.

* Looking for agents to sell: Palm oil. cocoa and frozen shrimps/prawns

CRISIS! CRISIS! CRISIS!

Subject: Where are the focus areas for the Asian budgets?

October 8, 1998

Nobody likes to hear the word CRISIS regarding anything. Neither you nor I, of course.

When the whole world is shouting from the top of the house CRISIS, It does not solve anything. How should we see it?

The phonetical translation of CRISIS in Chinese is "WEI JI". It means "DANGER" + "OPPORTUNITY". The point is clear: Danger and Opportunity go together.

We have seen bearish stock market, closure of banks and enterprises,
Where are the opportunities?

1) Countries like PRC, ROC, Malaysia, Southeast Asia countries have started to make budgets to STIMULATE their domestic market demands. For instance: PRC will invest US$50 billion, ROC will allocate about US$ 55 billion, Southeast Asia countries 80 billions. Malaysia just announced it intends to inject 13 billion into their weakening economy...

This is a surefire way to help any downward economy because Roosevelt used this approach in the NEW DEAL.

2) Interested in knowing where the said amount of money goes?
