Guestbook

Damon in 1993 The Guestbook was a new feature to my Damon Hill web site in 1998. I'd received so many comments in the two years since I opened the site, that I wanted to share some of them with the other visitors.

As can be seen, Damon has always had a huge following of loyal fans from all over the world. It has been a delight for me to talk to the many, many of them who have been in contact through the site.

With the end of Damon's Formula 1 racing career, my web site has also come to a close. I will therefore no longer be accepting comments for the Guestbook. However, I would still very much like to hear from fellow fans, so please continue to e-mail me as before.

Finally, you can view some of the older Guestbook comments in the 1998 Archive.

comments: 1999 is going to be an incredible year for F1. Everyone on Bridgestone tyres, Ferrari verrrry hungry, BAR and Villeneuve an unknown quantity, and Damon in a potentially superb car and driving better than ever. Good luck for '99' Damon, I'll be rooting for you. And happy New year to all you F1 fans.

comments: A very well written peice of insight. Greatest driver ever? Yes definetely. Why do people slag him off? A true gentleman in every sense of the word. I reckon he should of become champ in 1994, no thanks to Michael Schumacher. Anyway, great site hope theres more like it could do with some more pics.

comments: Congratulations with your tribute Damon Hill. Indeed, I couldn't agree more. Damon Hill is the most underestimated driver of the 90's. Everybody seems to forgett that Damon Hill is one of the best drivers of the 90's. Only Schumacher won more races in this decate. And there will be nobody who will reach 22 victories before this year is over. I am convinced that Damon Hill will repeat his Belgian result of 1998 in 1999. The new Jordan 199 has a great potential. To Adrian Newey's opinion, the Jordan is the best car at the moment, except for the McLaren. In Melbourne Damon drove spendid results in free practice. Only traffic problem were the reason he wasn't in the top 5 on the grid. The way he was treated by Frank Williams at the end of 1996, is ununderstandable. Who fires a World Champion ? Only Frank Williams does. Ask Nigel Mansell. I sincerely hope (in fact I am convinced) we'll see many more good results of Damon Hill.

comments: I like your web site and particularly your tribute to Damon Hill. May I add a personal message to Damon on his retirement? Having followed your career in Formula One, I was saddened to hear of your retirement. I can understand your reasons and agree that family is first. Over the last couple of years, the racing has become boring to watch with little real overtaking. The pit stops have rendered the drivers input less important and reduced the interest to the level of penalties at a football match draw. May I offer our thanks for the enjoyment of your driving skills and sportsmanship and condolences that the pass two years have not given the opportunities for performance. We wish you, Georgina and your children all happiness in your retirement. From my wife and myself. Formula One racing will be lessened by your absence. John Michaels

comments: Hello David, Great site you have here!!! Thanks for helping me out with my questions concerning Damon's pre F1 career. You really have a very interesting site, congratulations!
Feel sorry Damon will retire... hopefully his English fans will - no matter what the result in Silverstone will be - support him like they've never done before! I feel sorry he has to leave, he made a great contribution to F1.... he was often underrated, but we may not forget his 22 victories and his WC in 96!!!!!!! Damon, you're still the best. cu Bart

comments: I agree that Damon is very under rated by fans that have started supporting people like Mikka Hakkinean because he is winnitng, we should stick to OUR own drivers like Hill, like Coulthard, like Irvine and drivers that aren't realy regonised as doing well like Herbert.

For me, Damon is also the BEST FORMULE 1-DRIVER EVER!!. I visit Damon Hill-sites on the Internet a lot, so I have also visit your site. It is a good op-tu-date site, but the only thing I have missed are videos/sounds of Damon. I have seen this on other sites. I wish you good luck with your site, and maybe I can see the last news of the GP of Europe, where I am going to, on your site. I am looking forward to an answer, Casper

comments: A sad day for all British fans now that Damon Hill is no longer driving.
Personally I blame the FIA and their silly and dangerous grooved tyres.
If they were still using slicks the cars would be both faster and safer, and drivers like Damon would feel confident enough to show their true potential. Lets face it if you were given tyres for your road car that were designed not to hold the road properly, any one with any sense would take the bus.
My point is that the most important things on any car, are tyres and brakes, so why have the FIA made them inferior and useless in a sport were such things are even more essential.
Obviously Damon’s the only driver with enough sense to see this, and so he has decided enough is enough. Good luck to him in what ever he does from now on. F1 will be a sadder place without him.
All the best
Graham.

comments: Hi! Have just found your great site. Have been a Damon fan since he first started in f1 and am a member of his supporters club. Was at Silverstone last year, and, for the first time ever went to an "away" race - at Spa! What a great time we had. Am sorry Damon's decided to retire - hope you don't decide to "retire" your pages seeing as how I've only just got here!
