This is one of the most interesting sections, at least for me. As stated above, the viola has attracted some of the most interesting musical personalities around. The list below is by no means complete and I will try to update it from time to time. Just because most of the violist mentioned below are men, does not mean that this corner of music is a male dominated bastion. In fact, the viola section of the orchestra I play in has only two men for eight women! Also, I personally know many women who are achieving the fame and fortune from music that they deserve.
