4 --- Study objectives

The passed 1996 University of Auckland M.A. theses are a body of acceptable, contemporary, academic research. This project will perform a citation study on the theses,

1. to establish what information sources were acknowledged (see §11 below);
2. to determine how many of those sources are available in the University's libraries (see §11 below);
3. to evaluate how close the match is between the experimental data and the chosen theoretical model, by constructing and testing appropriate hypotheses (see §8 and §10 below);and discussing any anomalous patterns (see §10, §12 below);
4. to construct cumulative profiles of the age of used, printed resources which may assist in determining the minimum desirable age of items sent to storage (see §11 below).
