The First Generation

My ancesters all came from Eastern Europe. Here is the earliest existing photo of my father's family, taken from a charcoal drawing of 1912 (Nova Selitz, Roumania). My paternal grandmother Dena is standing on the right. My great-grandparents Pearl and Velvel are seated below her.

My mother's family originated in Lodz, Poland. They later emigrated to Germany (Essen). Here is a photo of my mother Bertel (standing on the left), with her mother Rosa, her younger sister Eva, and her father Menuel (Amsterdam, Holland ca. 1938).
