Highlights of
Christopher Haney's (Tenor) 1999-2000 season include performances as
Gardiner in the world premiere of Michael Ching's new opera Faith; appearances as guest
soloist with the Plano Symphony Orchestra; and company débuts with the Boston Bel Canto
Opera (Manrico-Il Trovatore), New York's Taconic Opera (Don Ramiro-La Cenerentola and

In recent seasons, Mr. Haney received rave reviews for his first Edgardo (Lucia di
Lammermoor) with the Whitewater-Sorg Opera Companies, sang his first Pinkerton at Opera in
the Heights (Houston) and his first Ernesto in Donizetti's Don Pasquale with the Longview
Opera. Other operatic leading roles which he has performed include the Duke of Mantua
(Rigoletto), and Alfredo (La Traviata). He has also appeared in Massenet's Manon and
Humperdinck's rarely heard Das Königskinder with Sarasota Opera. He also frequently

Critics and audiences continue to praise Christopher Haney for his ability to combine
"true musicianship" with a "beautiful voice and an engaging stage
presence." He has been blessed with undeniable vocal gifts and "a personal
warmth that will enrich the musical world for many years to come."
Earlier in his singing career Mr. Haney was awarded a full assistantship at the
prestigious Aspen Summer Music Festival where he performed numerous works including Ned
Rorem's opera Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters, to the delight of the audience and Mr.
Rorem!
Review of Lucia di Lammermoor:
"Lucia's lover, Edgardo, played by Christopher Haney, was just as moving. On his own,
Haney was superb, particularly in his character's death scene in the final act. His
mastery of tone and dynamics carried the audience along to his inevitable end."
