Until 1999, Francisco Noya was the Music Director of Symphony by the Sea, a professional orchestra based on the North Shore of Massachusetts. Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Maestro Noya came to Boston in 1979 to pursue advanced studies in composition and conducting at Boston University. Maestro Noya has been Music Director of the Valencia Youth Orchestra, Assistant Conductor of the Caracas Philharmonic, Assistant to the Music Director of the Teatro Teresa Carreno, one of the most prestigious theaters in Latin America, and Music Director of the program the concert music program of the Venezuelan National Theater. Since moving to the United States, Maestro Noya has been Music Director of several Massachusetts orchestras, Assistant Conductor of the Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra and, most recently, Assistant Conductor of the Rhode Island Philharmonic. In addition, he has made guest conducting appearances in Venezuela, Peru, Brazil, Austria, Spain, the Czech Republic and the United States. As Music Director of the Empire State Youth Orchestra, he toured Spain in 1994 and performed at Carnegie Hall and at Seiji Ozawa Hall at Tanglewood in 1996. |
