Drew Alan
Slatton (Tenor) has thrilled opera audiences across the United States, and Europe.
A native of Houston, Texas, he received his degree in music from Louisiana State
University and an internship with the New Orleans Opera followed. In 1992, he made his
debut in a leading tenor role as Don José in "Carmen" and, in 1994, received a
fellowship in Jerome Hines Opera Music Theatre International (OMTI) where he
remained until 1997. He has appeared in over 30 leading roles including Pollione in
"Norma" with Hawaii Opera Theatre, Pinkerton in "Madama Butterfly"
with Orlando Opera, Cavaradossi in "Tosca" with Connecticut Opera and Opera
International, Des Grieux in "Manon" with Arizona Opera, Rinuccio in
"Gianni Schicchi" and Moby in the world premiere of "Pantomime" with
Toledo Opera, Don José in "Carmen" with Teatro Lìrico di Bari, Edgardo in
"Lucia di Lammermoor" and Radames in "Aïda" with Opera at Florham,
the title role of "Les Contes dHoffman" with DiCapo Opera, and the title
role of "Andrea Chénier" with Pensacola Opera. His extensive recital and
concert work has included appearances as a soloist in Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. Of his portrayal of Pollione in "Norma" with Hawaii Opera Theater, Ruth O. Bingham of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin said, " Drew Alan Slatton deserves praise for his lovely tenor voice and for delivering a fine performance." For his Cavaradossi in Connecticut Operas production of "Tosca," Steve Metcalf of the Hartford Courant said, "Tenor Drew Slatton was the most convincing performer of the night...his E lucevan le stelle was a pretty impressive piece of work." Mr. Slattons appearances in the 2000/2001 season
include Cavaradossi in "Tosca" with Mobile Opera , Luigi in "Il
Tabarro" and Rinuccio in "Gianni Schicchi" with Opera International,
Turiddu in "Cavalleria Rusticana" with Boston Bel Canto Opera, Alfredo in
"La Traviata" with Metro Lyric Opera, Canio in "I Pagliacci" with New
Orleans Jefferson Performing Arts Society, Don José in "Carmen" at
Manhattan Center and with Treasure Coast Opera, Manrico in "Il Trovatore" and
Radames in "Aïda" with National Lyric Opera, and the Duke in
"Rigoletto" with DiCapo Opera. |
