Missing Friends
From 1831 to 1916, the Boston Pilot, the city's major Irish newspaper,
carried advertisements as a public service in an attempt to reunite separated
relatives and friends. The project of transcribing, analyzing and publishing
the advertisements began in 1983.

of Thomas Claffy, formerly of Clinkin, near Bray, Dublin. When last heard
from (3 years ago) was in the employment of Daniel Sharp, Orange Co.,
N.Y., where he was married to Elizabeth Callaghen, daughter of James Callahen
[sic], who makes this enquiry, and resides at Rochester. Any information
of the above persons will be thankfully received - if by letter, care
of John Rigney, Rochester, N.Y., for James Callahen.
