Well, you are responsible for your WHOLE uniform, including weekly care and arranging for fixes should, under some unforseen and/or freakish accident (let's say alien invasion on your drill spot, just as you are marching through set 22...) a button pops or a hem comes loose. It can't be fixed as you're marching with the corps to the gate.
Here are some basic care tips from the Booster Club for uniform maintenance:
Uniforms should be washed after every performance or parade. The uniforms are machine washable and can be hung to dry. You can then iron your uniform on a low setting or have it dry cleaned. Remember, while "Febreeze" is ok to use to freshen the smell of flags, it isn't exactly great as cologne or perfume...
Always hang your uniform on a plastic or wooden hanger.
Remember all the pieces to your uniform, spare parts are not usually brought along. Do you want to be the one on the field marching in black socks because you forgot your shoes?
It is strongly suggested that you invest in a garment bag for your uniform. (inside tip: If you can't invest in a true garment bag, go to a dry cleaner and ask to purchase several "Dress" bags. These are the bags put over long dresses after they've been cleaned. It will be long enough to cover your entire uniform, and an inexpensive alternative!)
What do I need to have/purchase to complete my uniform?
The requirements are as follows:
A yellow t-shirt
Black socks
White golves
Black marching shoes
You may be able to order T-shirts, gloves and shoes through the booster club at an upcoming camp along with Corps Jackets, hats and all other items necessary to prove you are a proud Grenadier! Look for information on this coming as soon as it is available.
