Here are the five basic posistions of the feet in ballet: FIRST:Common. Feet form a "V" heels together toes point outwards. Turned out, with practice the feet will form very wide "Vs" or almost straight lines. SECOND: Fairly Common. Same as first but, heels do not touch feet are more spread. Toes point outwards, turned out. THIRD: Fairly uncommon. Turned out, heel of front foot, touches instep of back foot. FOURTH: Fairly common in turning. Same as thrid, but feet are spread apart and heel of the front foot, if pulled to other foot, would touch the toes. FIFTH: Common. Same as fourth, but with the feet touching. With practice, it should be heel-to-toe, and heel-to-toe. *-These pieces of information have been written by Lauren Russo.
