"Who am I? -- 24601!"

Brandy Heather McSween Brooks

That's me. It is very important that you know my name, not only so that you can give proper credit for the stunning brilliance displayed here before you, but also so that you are absolutely clear on the fact that I have two middle names, and therefore two middle initials. Just so you know.

There are many random things that I could tell you about me, but I think that that would take away much of the joy of getting to know me in person. However, my basic stats follow for anyone who needs a little more detail.

Birthday: 31 July 1976; I love books, clothes and jewelry, but a card will do :-)
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Brown
Height: 5'3" (Who needs to reach the top shelf, anyway?)
Hobbies: I read a lot, and email about as much. I sing and dance (really!); once upon a time I even cheerled and ran track, but now I mostly tell myself about how I really will get to the weight room soon. I love trees and flowers, candles, lasagna, and my amazing family.

Eight is Enough

So it's good that there are only six of us. ;-)

One day this section will be graced with pictures, so that you can see all of these really cool people. In the mean time, you will just have to trust me.

Immediately, my family consists of my mom (Carol McSween-Brooks), dad (Charles Brooks), and three sisters (Michelle, Rebecca, and Eleanne). Extended family includes my mom's mom, sister and brother, my dad's parents, and many cousins of varying degrees, not all of whom I've met.

We also have one cat, upholding a proud tradition of feline family pets. His name is Sammy; he's four-ish, inherited from a past co-worker of my dad, and possibly clinically insane. He has had several lovable moments during his tenure in our house, but mostly we keep him around because he takes really cute pictures. (Soon, I promise.)

Our newest addition to the family, my baby, COCOA!!! OK, so he's a cat baby, not a human baby, but his arrival has greatly warmed my lovely apartment (thank you, Janeen!). He takes his name from his beautiful choclate color, and is also clinically insane, but much more cuddly than Sammy. He loves people, strings and sleep, not necessarily in that order. We have reached a very important breakthrough in our relationship where he will now sleep on my bed and wake me up in the morning by batting the hair near my face; despite his wonderfully sharp claws, I actually welcome this development as a sign that he has settled in well to his new home. If you know me and are reading this and have not seen my kitty, email me IMMEDIATELY and make arrangements to stop by!!!

My Homes

I was born in the city of Worcester, in the incredibly awesome state of Massachusetts. This makes me a Northerner, despite the fact that "y'all" is a permanent part of my vocabulary now.

My family, however, moved to Virginia just after my 8th birthday, and has remained in the area ever since. Specifically, we've lived in that very distinct D.C.-metro region known as Northern Virginia, which, despite being wholly unconnected culturally to the rest of the state, seems to have an awful lot of voting power. Beats me. And oddly enough, the website referenced here doesn't contain anything about Loudoun County, in which my family now resides; I consider this a gross elitist oversight. Towns lived in include Reston, Great Falls and Sterling.

But I have returned to my home state, initially for college purposes, but now also as a bona-fide resident of Somerville. No longer Cambridge; I am still adjusting to this myself, and will have achieved something very significant when I stop writing the wrong city name on every envelope I address. (BTW, I just love linking things. And I discovered, much to my excitement, that there are not one but two sites specifically devoted to Harvard Square, the Cambridge area upon which much of my time is focused. This is the one that I like better, but hey, go look at the other one if you're inclined.) One of the best things about Somerville is that it is near Boston, which is so diverse that I can't find just one site to encompass its coolness.

I'll probably be in the area for a while yet, but endless possibilities exist as regards to my next destination. Below are some of my latest ideas:
