Organ of Paisley Abbey

A short history and specification

An organ was built for the Abbey in 1872 by Aristide Cavaillé-Coll (1811-99). It was comprehensively enlarged in 1928 (IV/53) by Hill, Norman & Beard when the Abbey Choir was restored. A further rebuilding, more in the Cavaillé style, was made by Walkers under the direction of Ralph Downes in 1968 (IV/66). Further information including the pipescales can be found in Baroque Tricks
