The Ballet Folklorico Mexicano de Okinawa, where Vanessa began her dancing career, was blessed with dedicated dancers.  They earned the cheer and applause of their audiences from Zarabanda Mexican park at the south end of Okinawa, through Kinser, Futenma, Foster, and Kadena in the heart of the island, and right up to Hansen, and Schwab at the north end.  The Ballet danced and entertained the military audience, their families, and civilians, serving on Okinawa, as well as their Japanese hosts.  Other dance groups continue the traditional dances, but THE BALLET exists no more.  Only the memory of their smiles, twirling dresses, and tapping shoes, are left behind.  Vanessa, pictured in the back row, fourth from the right, in the blue dress, has breathed life into the Ballet Folklorico Mexicano de 29 Palms, where she hopes to raise a new generation of dancers.
