Its gonna make me, make me, make me BLEED...

Mon. 23rd March, Munich, Incognito

International Crowd at Munich

I made my trip all the way from Vienna, Austria, to write a new page in my biography. I was off to "celebrate" my very first Numan-Concert. An it really was going to happen. Thanks to George Ellis (see review of the Nürnberg-Concert) I got my ticks and we met at Auustiner-Bräu in Munich. There also was David, the Australian, again and a lot of other long-time fans joined our small crowd. Soon we were outside "Incognito", where we met another "hardcore" fan, now from South Tyrol, Italy. (He's the only one I know, to have a copy of the "Blue Album" with blue vinyl!)

As we entered, we were the first to come in and so we managed to conquer the places in the first row. It was great, cause during the gig, he came very near to the pit.

The Concert should have started by 20.00 but there was a slight delay. The crowd, about 300-400 people, demanded an appearance, because most of them had to wait for "their"concert for about 19 years, like I did.

When the fog got clearer, there he was! He took his Gibson and a very "randomized version" of "Friends" rocked the hall. "Dominion Day" worked very well, then "Cars". The set was the same as the last days. I liked "Voix" very much, because as one of his "middle career pieces" it fitted very well between the "classic" stuff and the "new" stuff. Again the laugh at the verse "I like your screams", when the crowd started a collective scream.

The arrangements of most of the "old" songs are well known, if you have "Dark Noise" or "Dream Corrosion". "Metal" (for whom Gary had a chaeting-paper in front of his monitor-box) and also one of my favourites during the show "Films" prooved, that there is now a "headbanging"-possibility with Numan-Music.

>From the new stuff "Dark" and "Dead Heaven" sounded great, "An Alien Cure" and "Absolution" didn't do it for a "real classic". Another Highlight: the "B-Sides" - "We are so fragile" and (I really waited for that) "Noise Noise".

The crowd was super. No single song, that Gary could perform "solo". He was accompanied by his faithful followers, that gathered at the "Incognito" to worship their idol. And "Are friends electric" finally was our hymn.

After "We are glass" the last of the encores it looked like everyone thought: "Yaeh, that was it!!"

Enough of the goodies, now the badies:
The Sound was, sorry to say, awful. Gary pointed at the speakers twice, but the crew didnt manage to get a clear sound. The bands guitarist would never had passed a drug test, or what. (At least he behaved like beeing stoned...).
Gemma in the first row sometimes had more attention, than her husband, due to her .... dress.

Oh yes, a bonus:
Two girls of our Numanoid group that met at the Augustiner-Bräu waited for Gary to come to his tourbus, saying 'thanks for coming, and please dont let us wait another 18 years. Gazza replied, that there may be a tour in November...

That was it for now,

Meanwhile we know, that there wont be a tour in Novemer 1998, but at the time of posting this message (3/98) it was pretty good gossip...
