Philippine-born pianist Jonathan Arevalo Coo has consistently
captivated audiences and critics through his concerts, lecture-recitals,
and master classes.  "The main assets of this young pianist are his
magnificent tones (Music News and Features, August 1997)."

"Sensitive and fiery" performances

Last year, he presented recitals featuring Franz Schubert and Lucrecia Kasilag in Thailand, Philippines and parts of the United States including two radio solo recitals broadcasted live on National Public Radio, presented by WBFO-Buffalo and recitals for Eastman at Washington Square and the George Eastman House/KODAK Museum.  Hailed for his "sensitive and fiery" performances (Sun-Star Daily), Mr. Coo's previous concert tour of the Philippines was widely reviewed as follows-- "...the audience...were awed at the artistry and intelligence with which Coo expressed...(Manila Bulletin)." "...monumental tones...the response was deafening....showcase of lyricism...brought the house down...(Philippine Daily Inquirer)."  Mr. Coo is currently doing a research-project on publishing, recording, and writing on Lucrecia Kasilag's contribution to Piano Literature.

He holds a Performer's
Certificate and a Master of Music
in Performance and Literature
from the Eastman School of
Music where he is currently
finishing a Master of Arts in
Theory and Pedagogy and plans
to pursue a doctoral degree in
music.  He serves as a Teaching
Assistant for the keyboard and
Theory Departments.  Next
school year, he will also serve as
instructor at the Hochstein Music
School and the University of
Rochester's River Campus
Music Department.

"...monumental tones...
brought the house down..."
