You're going to see a lot more pictures of me playing pianos than in any of the other reviews. It just turned out that way. This was the third large store we visited. It has a different slant on things than the others. For one thing it isn't as much into rebuilding pianos as the others are, though they did have a lot of restored pianos like this fine old Hardman grand I'm playing in the picture above. Piano Piano will minimally restore where required but otherwise they are interested in newer pianos.

However, that said, if you are perhaps just getting started in the piano world or can't afford a really expensive piano, Piano Piano should be the most serious stop you make because they will probably have a good piano that will be easier for you to afford. And by all means make sure you have some contact with Bruce Nidd, Piano Piano's superb sales manager. He is most knowledgeable about pianos, having been in the business more than thirty years. His contacts in the industry are deep and he will be able to answer most of your questions. He had quite an array of pianos to show us.

For some of you who have read my other reviews, you might think that there's nothing left for me to rave about. But New York is nothing if not a very large and deep piano market. And people come into Piano Piano from all over the country and from many foreign countries to look at and to buy pianos. They have a technical staff that is always working on preparing their stock. This is, as I have said many times, of tremendous importance. It is difficult enough to hear and feel what you are playing without it. Piano Piano is the largest Petrof distributor in the United States. They also have a few more surprises which we will take some pages to describe.
