On Tuesday March 6th 2001 at around 1:30 a.m I was involved in an accident while I was a passenger in my friend Ivan's Nissan Axxess minivan. We were both lucky to survive and the crash sure made me rethink my life's strategies when it comes to driving!

This is Ivan, the van was his. All in the blink of an eye it was turned from a fine machine to a $30 piece of scrap.
Even though the hit was a total T-Bone the van spun with such force and crashed in the rear end that the windows were knocked out. The accident happened so fast that I didn't even hear the glass break.
As you can see, the driver's side front took the brunt of the hit, and caved in quite nicely leaving the passenger compartment completely intact. Thank you Nissan for making such a crashworthy machine with NO AIRBAGS!
Amazingly enough after the crash the engine was still running, and we were able to restart it with a crack of the key, the van wouldn't move due to drivetrain damage but the motor ran like a champ!
It's really funny how quickly things can change in one's life...
This is how I'll always remember that van, the Nissan Axxess that gave up it's life for my friend's and mine!
