Awards

1.     Award of the Commonwealth Scholarship in September 1974 to do Post-Doctoral Research at Imperial College of Science & Technology, London, U.K.

2.     Award of the JSPS Fellowship between July 1986 and May 1987 and was invited by the Japan Society for Promotion of Science to pursue  research at Kyoto University. 

3.     Best Presentation Award in the Tenth National Conference on I.C. Engines and Combustion, Rajkot, in December 1987 for paper entitled, `Fuel Saving in Two-Stroke Spark Ignition Engines - A New Approach in the Scavenging Process'.

4.     The Babcock Power Award  for the Best Fundamental Scientific Paper  was awarded for paper entitled, `Numerical Prediction of Flow and Combustion in Three Dimensional Gas Turbine Combustors' published in the issue of March 1987 of Journal of Energy.

5.     The Institution of Engineers Merit Prize and a Citation was awarded for paper entitled, `Theoretical Investigations in Annular Diffusers of Two Different Configurations - A Comparative Study', published in the Journal of Institution of Engineers, 1993.

6.     The Certificate of Merit was awarded for paper entitled, `Experimental investigations of turbulence scales in an open and swirl combustion chambers of a diesel engine', published in the Journal of Institution of Engineers, 1994.

7.     SVRCET Surat Prize was awarded for Best Paper presented in the 22nd National Conference on Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Power held at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, in December 1995 for paper entitled, `Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of Carburetor Metering' in connection with the industry-institute collaborative research.

8.     Sir Rajendra Nath Mookerjee Memorial Medal for 1995-96 was awarded for paper entitled, New Methodologies in Numerical Simulation of Gas Turbine Combustor Flows  published in the Journal of Institution of Engineers, India, 1996.

9.  The M.Tech thesis entitled, “Modelling of combustion in a four-stroke direct injection diesel engine”, submitted by Mr. P. Anand of 1997 batch has been awarded the Second Prize, in the Best M.Tech. Thesis National Award in Mechanical Engineering instituted by Gujarat State Fertlizers Company Ltd, Vododara. The award carries Rs.6000/- cash prize, a medallion and a certificate. The award was presented in the ISTE National Convention on 19th December 1997 at Bhopal.

10. Anna University National Award for Outstanding Academic for the Year 1997 for the teachers of the graduate level Engineering Colleges in the country. The award was presented in the ISTE Convention in December 1998.

11. Elected as Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering, 1999.

12. DAAD Fellowship – for a three months study visit at the Institut fur Kolbenmaschinen, Universitat of Karslruhe, Germany, October to December 2000.
