VERSES AT THE TIP OF YOUR TONGUE

The primary purpose of the Bible is not to tell us how the heavens go, but how to go to heaven. You can know all the Scripture verses your mind can hold, but unless you live those verses, it is mere memorization. Scripture has the power to transform lives and it is an awesome weapon in the hand of God for those who have memorized Scripture and applied it.

The purpose of memorization is to be able to hide God's Word in your heart - so that at moments of trial or temptation, or when a word of encouragement or understanding is needed, you have the words of God ready at hand to empower you.

How to memorize Scripture:

Read the verse out loud at least 10 times.

Write it out on a 3"x5" card, thinking about each word.

Practice quoting it (it should be easy by now).

Meditate on it throughout the day and review it on subsequent days.

Share the verse with other people as you converse together.

If you don't have an established Scripture memorization plan, start with the verses listed below. Discipline yourself to learn one verse every week. Check off each verse as you learn it. But don't stop there. Meditate on these verses. Keep asking, So what? What difference should this make in my life?
