DOCTOR OR GOD?
Who heals you?
Should you go to a physician when you are sick, or does that
indicate you don't have faith that God will heal you? Many
Christians have wrestled with that dilemma. But such a wrenching
decision is not needed.
The Principles of Spiritual Healing:
- The ultimate healer is God Himself. In Exodus 15:26, God
introduces Himself as "Jehovah-Rapha, the Lord God that heals
thee." Going to a physician is not a sign of weakening faith
that God can and will heal you. The doctor, in a way, becomes
a surrogate of God.
- At times God's healing is spontaneous and instantaneous.
Other times healing is a process that requires patience and
perseverance as your health is gradually returned.
- Call on a physician who is filled with the Holy Spirit.
- Know God's Word about healing. Memorize Bible verses about
healing and bring them into your life every day. (Start with
Ex. 23:25, Jer. 30:17, Matt. 21:21)
- Seek God's pathway to healing for you. God heals in His own
way, in His timing and with the pathway - natural or
supernatural - that He chooses.
- Do what He tells you to do. Listen to His voice. Work closely
with your doctor, if that is part of your pathway. Remember,
there is wisdom in a multitude of counsel. Don't be afraid to
get a second or third medical opinion.
- Receive the support and prayers of other Christians who will
encourage you and minister to you as they exercise with you
the mighty prayer of agreement.
- Inner peace is essential to good healing. You need to prepare
yourself for healing by getting rid of worry, fear, and
anxiety.
- Be persistent in seeking your healing. If medicines are
needed, take them meticulously. If exercise is required,
don't let pain or lethargy deter you from it.
- Do what you can do. God will do what you can't do.
- Faith is essential to healing. Be persistent in your faith.
The lack of faith is a major hindrance to healing.
- Pray with power and authority. Get God's Word into your
spirit, thoughts, and words. Get the right attitude - a
feisty attitude toward disease in your body.
