YOU CAN'T AFFORD THE MONEY BLUES
An old saying goes, "Never waste a day being down about money or
the weather." You can't do anything about the weather, and being
down won't solve your financial problems. As you lift your heart
in praise to God - for His provision in your life - your attitude
will change and you can deal with money problems with a clear
mind, trusting a Father who wants the best for you.
Money facts:
- You are not alone. Money concerns are common to all. The
rich, middle class, and poor all have financial concerns.
- Turn getting into giving. Even though you have little to
share, when you decide to help others your perspective
changes. John D. Rockefeller's life changed when, at the age
of 53 - and near death - he began giving away millions of
dollars. He was rejuvenated and lived to 98.
- Negative reactions can be destructive and costly. Becoming
edgy over economic pressure can ruin your Christian
testimony. It can produce physical and emotional damage and
may bring about temper outbursts that hurt those who mean the
most to you.
- Be thankful. Whatever the circumstances may be, give God
thanks. Master this biblical concept and you no longer will
be the victim of circumstances.
- Reacting negatively does nothing to solve money problems.
Worry has no income and blowing up at loved ones will not
give you a raise. Irritability that affects your driving will
do nothing to enable you to make your car payments.
- Negativity is particularly costly for those who depend on
interaction with customers for their financial success. Sales
people, waiters, and service employees need to deal with the
public in a positive manner to be successful. (Tips are
higher to workers who brighten the lives of those they
serve.)
- Pray about your money needs. Believing-prayer can move the
hand of God. God may choose to meet your financial needs
because you prayed in faith, expecting Him to answer your
prayer.
- Often God provides when there seems no human way out. Indeed,
if there had been another way out, the miracles would not
have been needed. "Give to others, and God will give to you.
Indeed, you will receive a full measure, a generous helping,
poured into your hands - all that you can hold. The measure
you use for others is the one that God will use for you."
(Luke 6:38)
- Never talk about money during meals.
- Never talk about money when you are upset over other things.
- Never talk about money in bed.
- Never talk about your money problems immediately after
praying about them. Wait for the Holy Spirit to work in you.
- Tell your money problems to Jesus, expecting Him to pour
ideas into your mind and strength into your body that will
enable you to solve them.
