7. On Sunday morning, Roy and I went to the Pomona swapmeet and I found a rebuilt motor. I bought it and Joe Ruiz brought it back to Roy's house in his truck later that afternoon.
8. During the week, we had to remove the motor again to replace the clutch because it was slipping bad. We put the motor back in with a resurfaced flywheel and a new alternator Wednesday night. I drove it home Thursday so I could do some last minute touch ups at work.
9. During the week I ordered VDO Series one gauges and made the Motometer and Kienzle Style panels and sent them out to get polished. On Friday, I installed them in the oval.
10. On Saturday, Roy and I detailed the car for the next day's event and later that day we were finally DONE!!! Exactly one week later. This picture was taken Sunday June 10 at the 2001 VW Classic.
PROJECT OVAL: The "One Week Wonder" continued
Note: Special thanks to Joe for delivering the engine Sunday afternoon and Bobby, Gary, Jimmy, Scotty and Tim from the Baja Bug Club of America (B.B.O.A.) for all the help and miscellaneous parts I borrowed to get the car done. And especially Roy, for finally letting me have the Oval and all the work he did helping me get the car done within one week!!!
