This film is based on the original story and manga by Masamune Shirow, who also wrote Appleseed, Black Magic M-66, and Dominion.
The director, Mamoru Oshii aslo directed Patlabor, Patlabor 2, Maroko, and Twilight Q among others.
The japanese title of this film is Kokaku Kidotai.
