Week Five:

_____________________________________________________

Welcome Everyone! Tonight we are here with the Final 7! Things at VPI2 are getting hot! After this week, we will be left with only half of the Finalists. Things are definately coming down to the wire. Tonight we are joined by Stacy and Judge Anthony from the Judges Circle. This weeks theme was Diane Warren and David Foster songs. Lets get this party started!

We would like to thank Reality Reel Media for hosting our sound files!

First up is Andrew singing "Come What May" by Ewan McGregor:

Nick: Andrew, I think you pulled off the song fairly well! Considering the time it took for you to record it, it was good. My only concern was that it seemed like you were holding back... don't. Thats what's going to hold you back in the competition and lessen your chances of winning. Keep up the great work!

Stacy: I’m being honest... I was a little disappointed with this week’s performance. It was a bit boring. And your pitch was really not very good. You need to work on your pitch honey because you have great tone in your voice but your pitch is not consistent! You have talent, there is no doubt! You have the ability to harmonize but your pitch needs some practice! I will say this was certainly not your best performance and I’m not sure you will be able to stay if you don’t really watch your pitch. I hope you do stay around so get practicing!!

Anthony: You've got a different sound...and its not bad. You picked a good song for your voice. You did a good job in conveing the message of the song but to me it felt like your voice needed more support so that the pitch didnt lag. Overall it was ok, just make sure you work on maintaining pitch. Another thing i was a little worried about was the bridge where you harmonized....great harmonies but dont PUNCH the sound. By punch, i mean dont put too much emphasis on just a couple notes. You want to acheive a well rounded sound so that everything turns out smooth. Goobmeter: 6 out of 10.

Next up is Dean singing "Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" by Aerosmith:

Nick: Dean, I thought that performance was one of your weaker performances, but none the less, it sounded terrific! Well done. I know you are sick, so taking that into consideration, I feel like you did marvelous! Keep up the great work!

Stacy: OK. I was SOOO NOT IMPRESSED WITH THIS¦. And man I hate to not like your performance because of the progress you have made in this competition... But it was WAY WAY out of your comfortable range and it was sooo nasal! I think you should have brought down the key like 2 steps in order for it to have the depth and richness it needed! I’m sorry to seem harsh I just did not like this. It was just way to high and the tone was bad with this. I think you know now, that you need to stick to songs in a bit of a lower range. I hope you make it to the next round because I think you will take that advice to heart and improve. I do give you kudos for trying such a difficult song.

Anthony: I like the song and i liked what you did with the song. Normally I'm a fan of making the song your own but to me thing song doesnt need any alterizations and it could have been better without the adlibs. Your voice gets better each week....Also, i felt the song was in the upper part of your register....you could have taken it a couple steps down and it would have perfect. and OMFG the ending part was amazing. Goobmeter: 7.5 out of 10.
