Week One:

_____________________________________________________

Welcome Everyone! Tonight we are here with the Final 12! We've been through alot already with our semi-finalists. The good were filtered and we are left with the best! Unfortunately, due to a personal issue, Lexie is no longer able to compete in VPI2. Replacing her is none other than Nicole! So lets get started with Week One! The Theme is On Stage Revisited, Songs From Musicals! One more thing, Stacy from the Judges Circle is here this week!

We would like to thank Reality Reel Media for hosting our sound files!

First up is Allie singing "On My Own" from Les Mis:

Nick: Allie, that performance was alright. You had a rocky begining, but thats understandable. I still feel like you are holding back. You just need to let go and stun us with your talent that I know you are capable of. Good Effort!

Ksenia: Les Mis is so hard to pull off, and this song is really overdone. You did a decent job but I thought that it lost the sweet loneliness in the emotion. There wasn't much rubato or liberties taken with the melody line and I think that's what this song really needs to sparkle(it needs to be different) There were a few pitch errors here and there. You changed the melody a bit, but you didn't sound confident with the changes. Maybe its because I always hear this song or that its just a tough song to execute but I think you would have done better with a different one.

Stacy: I think you have potential to really polish your voice and make it great. I think this song was a hard one, probably not a great choice, however, I think your pitch was pretty good. I found very minor pitch flaws which is pretty damn good considering this song is a hard one pitch wise. I think sometimes your voice sounds a little forced but I think as you get older and if you took some voice lessons, your voice can really be amazing. Overall, with this song, it was good, not fantastic, but certainly not terrible. I think you will do pretty decent in the competition if you choose your songs wisely… nothing to complicated but nothing boring either. Good luck to you! You will stick around for a bit I'm guessing.

Next up is Heather singing "Children Will Listen" from Into The Woods:

Nick: Heather, that was a beautiful performance. You have a very lovely voice, and you have alot of control over it aswell. My only concern with this performance is, it was boring. The performances we usually hear from you are usually load and vibrant. Well Done!

Ksenia: I love love love Sondheim! This was very nice, you felt the music and took some liberties with it but not too many to make the melody funky( but then again it is Sondheim) bravo!

Stacy: You do have a beautiful voice, very fitting for the theme! You have pretty decent control on your voice but what impressed me was the emotion and depth you were able to put into the song. There were a few pitchy spots but like I had said before, this category is a rough one and I think you did a great job. I would do a little practicing with your recording because you did get a bit distorted when you sang any loud/high notes which made it a little hard to hear, but you can ask around on how to fix that. I look forward to hearing you in other themes. I think you will do well in this competition and go far!

Is Heather your Virtual Pop Idol? Vote at the end of the show!
