Week One:

Again, we would like to thank Reality Reel Media for hosting our sound files once again this season, it is very appreciated.

Next up tonight, is Ashley singing "Think Of Me" from The Phantom of The Opera:

Nick: Ashley, that performance was ok. I know you have been busy with your voice lately and it is a little strained so its understandable. Be careful not push yourself. You can only do so much. Your voice souded a little shaky, but over all, Well Done.

Ksenia: I recently performed this song and I have to say its not real easy (although you skipped the most fun part) I can see that youre getting away from pure straight tones which is really good (it adds so much to a song when you can add in the varity in tone) Although you still have a very airy tone(which can be partly due to age…believe or not girls voices change too!) think of being a little more stingy with the air. Support the top notes even more. You do really well on the lower and middle than have to start reaching for the top notes, so think of sitting right on top of them. Overall it was very well done for that song.

Stacy: Nice voice. I like the tone, I didn't think this song was suited for your voice... at least not in this key. You had to much trouble going from your chest voice to your head voice, it seemed unnatural. Your breath support isn't all that great and you were a bit pitchy and you need to work on the diction of your words to make them a bit clearer. BUT, I really think you have great tone and I like the way your voice sounds, if that makes sense! I think you have great potential in this competition if you work on some things I mentioned. I don't know if your voice is a winning voice but I think with some work you really could go far. I look forward to following your progress because I do think the sound of your voice is one of the prettiest in this competition, it just needs polishing. Oh, and work on your recording because you sounded a bit like you were singing into a bucket.

Here comes Crystal, singing "Hopelessly Devoted To You" from Grease:

Nick: Crystal, you are amazing. Similarly to Kyle, you have such a unique voice and you are constantly putting on great performances! Keep up the consistency, you are going to do great girl! Well Done!

Ksenia: So the song was ok. You tend to get more nasal on the higher B section of the song ("but now I'm outta my head") and then slide from pitch to pitch. Sliding (which is something that I actually don't care for at all) should be used in moderation or else, just like doing something else repeatedly ,it gets old. I don't think this was your theme, you seem more suited for rock-sh pop.

Stacy: Strong voice Crystal! Potential-City here!! I love how forceful and in your face your voice seems without being too brutal, it still was pretty and powerful at the same time. HOWEVER, there are a few things I would suggest you work on... you have great tone but at some times, you sound a little nasal, not tremendously.. but a little... maybe because this song was tipping your range, you seemed to strain but not too much at all, it was like it was right on your edge... very great song choice for you though. Also, the drop off of your notes at the end of each phrase, rather then adding verbrato, you had a drop off on the notes, I don't know if I'm explaining it right but I would suggest you getting out of that habit, it is very very frowned upon in the music industry. Learn how to control your voice and add verbrato rather then dropping off the notes. I think you have the potential to make it very far in this competition. I loved this performance. Great job!!
